Hi I currently have a client of mine that sells a service and is known for her unique name. Lately we have been noticing google search results with a high fluxuation, normally the results return about 220,000 pages and now it shows 4,750. I'll refresh the result and get 5,080 or 4,500 then it climbs back to 220,000 anyone have an idea why this is happenning? Could it be querying different servers?

I don't think it's updating - did you key in the same niche as before?

Try using many differing data centers

Yes my guess is that I'm querying different data centers, but it is a very big difference. Our site was recently hacked, maybe that played a role in the decrease of search results? I just found it very weird.

It's not unusual at all. Google's search engine results are continuously changing. They are never stable. Just keep on building quality links to achieve a better position.

The question was in regards to how many results there were, not the sites rank.

I'm sorry Marvin, I can't help you out with an "official" answer. I would think maybe ommited duplicate results, but I don't think that they would vary that much, and I know that they would tell you that results were omitted. Sorry I can't help more.
