Hey all... I'm starting up a new site, and looking to launch it properly in September/October time this year when University students in the UK start. The site is centered around student/university lifestyle and money saving. I am hoping to have lots of regularly updated articles and original content, mixed in with some affiliate schemes (buy.at/cj etc) to generate some revenue. The URL is http://studentsteals.co.uk/ Let me know your thoughts on the site, any bugs/problems you notice and what you think about the whole concept! Best regards, Bowen
Well, students are pretty broke so I can see how there is a market for this. Looks like the site is easy to navigate, but no content!
Yeah content is the next priority. I'm looking to start with around five articles per category at first. Any suggestions on how best to promote the articles once I've started - Digg/Stumbleupon that kind of thing a good place to start I guess?
Looks cool. Is it going to be a blog? There's an interesting blog I saw the other day about college life - zencollegelife.com - might be worth taking a look at for some ideas.
As a student, I think your biggest challenge is getting the word out there - make sure to hit the normal social media sites like facebook etc to get the message out there. I'd also suggest engaging people at different universities to promote the site within their unis
very nice niche, having been a student myself i know of the lifestyle, it might be worth your while to approach pubs and nightclubs to pay for advertising on your site to promote student nights and promotions etc. best of luck with it
I AM NEW BLOGGER PLEASE GUIDE ME BECOME PROFFESIONAL BLOGGER LIKE YOU THANK MY SITE WWW.BLAZZERING.COM
Thanks for all the positive feedback and advice. I have updated the top banner now as of abotu 10 minutes ago with a new header and logo. I think the logo will be great for building up a brand. Lots of new content coming in the next 2 weeks ready to start promoting and generating traffic.
Definitely get more content. Also, on the monetization side I would sign up with some affiliate networks and try to work some affiliate offers into your content. There's no reason that you couldn't provide links to great student deals where you get a cut of the sale. Presumably your audience is looking to buy things - it's a win-win.
