If you want to play the latest games, better for you to buy a high end model. Both of the model you mention is just a mid-entry level graphic card. Still can play latest games, but not in it highest setting.

The research I have done on both these models show that the ATI card did better on the graphics bench tests than the Nvidia. But, I've had tons of experience using both Nvidia cards and ATI cards and, although the Nvidia cards seem a little slower, they will last much longer. I've had many ATI cards overheat and die within 1 year.

So, it's really up to you. Faster but unreliable, or a little slower but will be around for the long haul?

You will get mix suggestion here, but from my own experience, I will go with ATI card as the performance per price ratio is on the ATI side. Plus, I'm using ATI graphic card for the past 6 years without any problem.

Those cards are already obsolete. Playing new games on those hardware will pose quite a big problem.

Yeah those cards aren't anywhere near capable playing the latest games at any decent resolution. If you have a PCI Express slot, Geforce 9600GT is $80 and should be sufficient. If you buy a four year old graphics card, plan on playing 4 year old games.

It really depends on what the rest of your computer is. Also is your case big enough to support these cards? Because these things are huge. They will take 2 slots in your case and if you have a mid tower I would be careful about buying something that might not even fit. Also can your case cool this thing?

Don’t misuse your cash!!!!That is a short end budget graphics card, not even merit your hard gross money! Spend some hard cash on at slightest a 6600GT or 6800GT. You'll be pleased that you did. But you go to require a high-quality influence supply to run one of these cards. If you do not desire to use a lot of money go for an ATI 9600XT or 9800Pro.
