I am looking into all kinds of different options with regards to the direction of my company. I am currently developing websites for local companies. As I become more experienced at this, I can see where this might end up being mildly profitable. As I've been thrust into SEO and Online Marketing, I am being exposed to other various revenue vehicles. After looking at some things, I am left wondering if I should stop making sites for others, and begin making them for myself. To bottom line it, what do you think is more profitable, website design/hosting or affiliate/pay-per-click and drop-shipping initiatives? What are your thoughts on each of these topics? 1. Web-design 2. Affiliate/PPC Marketing 3. Drop-Shipping
spacebass5000, I think that web design is an overcrowded market. Affiliate/PPC marketing is okay as long as it is relevant to your site and you get a lot of traffic. Drop shipping is great but should only be a supplement to another business. Just my thoughts!
Each one can be very profitable if you take the time and effort to maximize the profits for the sites.
Hi, I agree with Tom above. Web-design seems a bit saturated right now. However, PPC and Dropshipping still seem like viable options. With both of these I would think research is essential. And of course with any online business nowadays, you need to try to find a unique position, or a new twist on something old. Sunshine
Taken from Wikipedia Drop shipment or [drop shipping] is a type of retailing where the retailer does not keep goods in stock, but instead passes the customer's order and shipment details to the wholesaler, who then dispatches the goods to the customer directly. The retailer makes their profit on the difference between the wholesale and retail price.
You can make anything you want profitable, as long as you do the proper market research, develop a sound business and marketing plan, specialize in a niche area of the market where you find a specific need exists, and follow your planning through. It won't necessarily happen overnight... but it can be worth it in the long run. Jenn
Thanks all... Yeah, I just don't think I want to continue building sites for other people right now. They are using their's to make money and I think it is time I do the same thing (for myself).
You should continue making websites for money, but you should also have your own website when you can make some money though other ways like PPC, advertising, etc..
