Did you submit it to DMOZ?

Because that's typical with DMOZ. You may want to google 'dmoz sucks' for more information. Looking through the subforum here may also be a good idea:

    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/forumdisplay.php?f=66

What website were you trying to get listed and for what categories?

Because they are DMOZ, that's why. Like everyone else that submits, you might as well light one of those lotto prayer candles and pray to the God of your choice that your site will be accepted.

That may be why. They don't like multiple submits for same site.

forget about DMOZ, changes that you site will be accepted is very very small. Some people says because is dead. Of course moderators have different opinion ;)

Some folks say only sites where the webmaster has paid the moderator are accepted.

That has some merit in my experience.

Have you bothered to even read the ADD page? From your post there, you seemingly do not want a listing, you only want to talk about it. If you wanted a listing in the ODP you would have at least skimmed the add page

That is your problem! If you read the DMOZ rules you are only allowed to submit your site once. You have been most likely deleted from their queue due to multiple entries.

Did you do the same thing as the guy above and submit your site more than once? It also depends on which category you are choosing...the more popular niches will take extremely longer than the less popular ones. Also, your website may have already been declined....They don't message you if your site is declined I believe.

    Hope this helps,

    Kevin

    Very easy to find: http://www.dmoz.org/guidelines/include.html

As I posted just a couple of days ago, not only does an editor instantly lose their account for accepting payment, but any webmaster who offers to bribe an editor risks having ALL his sites permanently banned, so don't even think about going that way.

Unfortunately, those posting in this thread seem to miss the point that DMOZ is not a listing service, and editors are not required to look at site suggestions when finding worthwhile sites to list.
So there simply is no "queue" of sites "waiting" for "approval".
You are welcome to suggest sites, but they are nothing more than one resource editors can use if they want to.
That's why the concept of "accepting" and refusing" is completely meaningless. :)

Bull. Doesn't mean it doesn't happen. I've had editors suggest top me that the only way I would get a site into DMOZ is with a bribe. Or even keep their site in there:

    http://www.shoemoney.com/2007/08/26/dmoz-extortion/

That's interesting because all I see over there is lists of sites.

Never said there was. But when I'm trying to get my site added to a category that has 15 sites listed (oh, there's that list word again ;) where 4 of them link to 404s, 3 haven't been updated in years, 1 links to a spammer that should never have been in there in the first place, all of those having been reported many times over, please kindly do not say those sites are worthwhile sites.

So where do the suggested sites go then if not in a queue?

You can't get your site added. All you can do is suggest it, and if we decide it's something we want, we'll keep it, and if not, we'll delete it.

Your desires have nothing to do with it. If it's a site that has unique content for that particular category (in our opinion), we would add it with or without your permission, even if you hadn't suggested it, and we happened to find it elsewhere.

A queue suggests that there's a first come, first serve line and that you have some sort of rights. That's false, as suggested sites are not looked at in any sort of order, neccessarily, (if at all) and the only right you have is to suggest the site.

As makrhod said, we are not a listing service, we build categories as a resource for information seekers, not for site owners.

You mean sent just one time and when it's not listed, NEVER suggest again ???
what if I try again after 5 years?
Any site not listed are placed on "black list" with annotation "not deserve or poor spammy sites to be listed?

Once is all that's neccessary. If you suggest it again, it just overwrites the existing one with a newer date, and some editors do edit by the submission date, which means you've done yourself a disservice.

Other editors may not look at suggested sites at all, and others (such as myself) could care less about the date.

No site is guaranteed a listing, so yours might not be one we want at all.

No, you don't get banned for submitting a suggestion 2 or 3 times, but it's a very bad idea.

So my site meets the requirements. My question is "Is it unlistable because I'm the Most Hated in the ODP ?"
In the category I am referring to for my site to be added half of those are invaluable compared to my site. Matter of fact my site is featured at Forbes for a reason.
So what do you list ? Should I say that it is based on "who" owns it ? ;)
Let it out and speak. :p

    Maraming Salamat and Muchas Gracias

Who owns a site IS a factor a DMOZ admin can have over 10k pages listed within the directory that are little more then syndicated/duplicate content while another site full of unique content (comparably) can NOT be listed based on who owns it.

Topix vs Shoemoney as one example.
