So you're saying if you wanted to start selling online, you'd code the entire shopping cart engine from scratch?
Or if you wanted a blog, you'd build it from the ground up?

And if you would, are these steps covered in your guide? ;)

Yes, doing the coding yourself, and building it all the way gives you a sense of satisfaction. Seeing your beautiful website with all your creative touches.

    1. Webcopy
    2. Sketch the layout
    3. Web Design - Hire designer, cms or template.
    4. Seo - Optimize the site
    5. Graphics
    6. Programming

A great suggestion. The issue with wordpress is that the navigation is difficult. If you are investing hundreds of dollars in quality content, it's a problem. The post are buried fast.

The mods are value that you are adding to the product. Anything that can be purchased such as a shopping cart should be used.

The IT and graphics are just a part of the equation.

The marketing aspect is more important. The marketing plan, webcopy and site layout should be completed by the marketing/sales team before the web design is started.

Isn't that how most businesses work?

I don't sit down in the evenings and hand craft all the componats to a phone, I get someone who knows has the knowledge and equipment to do this for me.

The same works for websites, not everyone is a creative geniuse, people need to play to their strengths.
I'd rather pay someone and have a good looking site than try to save a bit by doing it myself, it's false economy :/

    Rich man TALK
    Poor man WORK.
    Smart fellow utilize.

    or in the other word.

    Strong Man create opportunity.
    Poor Man miss the opportunity.
Smart Man grab and appreciate opportunity.
    Idiot ignore the opportunity.

I think some how you use other resources to create this topic right ? This not about pride, we call efficiency, computer means to speed up everything not slowing it ...

If you miss the old day, goback to pascal or cobol and write your self a browser ..... :)

I do all the process you mention but believe me, you will need creativity to make your website looks better and has quality. So I think you can't limit your creativity with the "5 days" plan. Sometimes I found myself spending 2 days only sketching... Coz I enjoy the process..
