I’m kinda tired of hearing all these “….killer” products. When Chrome came out it was supposed to be the IE and FF killer. Bing was said to be the Google killer. Zune was said to be the iPod killer, iPhone was said to be the Blackberry killer, Android was said to be the iPhone killer and webOS was said to be the iPhone killer.

Enough with the killer product’s already!!!. The only one of those products that has come close to their hype has been webOS. That said, a new “killer” product has arrived, now called the Google Chrome OS. But after looking into it I have five major reasons (among others), why it will be another failed attempt.

I'm not saying Chrome OS isn't a good idea, but the notion that Microsoft should start running for their lives is absurd. And speaking of netbooks, has anyone been aware that Windows 7 runs just fine on the same systems Chrome OS is built for?

    Good post.
Certainly Microsoft will remain top dog for many many years to come, but I'd think any market share decrease of 10% or so will be significant.

And though I can't back it up, I think there's a new generation of users coming which isn't a prisoner of the status quo.
So look for Bing and any other OS but Windows to do decent business in the next ten years.

I think this reason is sufficient to fail their product buddy . I am still confused that why google chrome site blocking ratio is too high comparing other sites .

i don't think the same way...google has the manpower and the money to be a strong competitor of microsoft. if they decide , they will succeed

Exactly my point. I wouldn't mind giving Chrome a try, but I don't know what the hell they are doing with my info. They are worse then Apple and their iPhone data collection.

Try doesn't always mean you succeed. Ubantu runs more then better on most netbooks and its still not a viable option for most PC users.

    Ubuntu*

No one will ever be able to create a Windows killer, lastly, Chrome OS will be for netbooks, not "normal" PC's.

You wrote Microsoft killer - I guess you meant Windows killer.

I think about 30 percent of Microsoft's turnover come from Windows - the rest is from their other products.

There are also many other alternatives to Ubuntu. Ubuntu isn't lightweight at all. Slackware runs faster on slower PC's, and in the end DSL will be even faster (and WAY smaller).

We all know that Windows has its pros and cons but it does not mean that Google will be a tough competitor simply because they dominate the Search Engine business.

Exactly what I'm trying to say. Microsoft has more leverage in the business arena than Google, and even they cannot sway most businesses from thinking about adopting Open Office or using Bing instead of Google SE.

People of today are quite susceptible to change, considering how fast our technology is advancing we ought to be, however, changing from a O/S many have known for over 20+ years to a O/S that is purely "Internet" based will be most likely a bit daunting for most I'm sure.

We all know Windows, we all understands how it works and we feel more comfortable with it than probably Apple or Linux. Sure, it has it's downfalls and it will always be criticised over the moon in comparison to Linux or Mac but it works.

Google sure have a lot of money, man power and support behind them and no doubt their O/S will provide a very funky new experience but it won't by far come close to overtaking an O/S built on a foundation for over 20+ years.

At the end of the day, do what works for you, forget what others yap on about, we're here to create for ourselves and others and we need to do it comfortably.

    Good points worldman btw.

It depends on if google take chrome OS seriously .
I just give an example, google online document service and open office were considered to be the killer of MS office . But, google document don't make great progress . I guess google don't take it serious .
The same situation is for chrome OS .

    Quoted

( PS. In the server market, many major hosting companies don't offer windows server at all. Don't you know ? )

Actually every major hosting company I know of offers both Linux and Microsoft server options. The fact is that Microsoft servers are used for intranets more then for web hosting. That said, all the big companies who run Oracle and Microsoft SQL all run Windows Servers. Check it out.
