Sometimes I Hate Blogs Because...

The ppl that run the blogs don't update their blogs on a consistent basis OR it takes a while for the moderator to approve your comment.

Also - You can only leave one sig link. What do you guys think about blogs? Don't get me wrong - I go to a lot of blogs and they are great...but rather go to forums.

I'm just seeing what everyone thinks.

Well, blogs are not intended for link building anyway. There are blogs that approve your comments right away though.
If you're looking for a better user interaction and feedback then forums are a lot better than blogs.

blogs aren't so bad, just need to find blogs that don't need approval for commenting

i dont know, some people setup a blog, write a few things, then never touch it again, some people are ultra casual and update once a month or every few months, some people are fiends and update every day, most people who run blogs dont even know what SEO is.

The really good blogs are updated regularly.

I agree that some blogs do take a long time to moderate comments, and it can get a bit frustrating when you post a legitimate comment but do not see it approved even after a week or so.

It depends on what you want from the blog. I subscribe to the blog's RSS and wait for new posts.

So many blogs are flooded with spam comments, including some of my blog, that I simply delete all the comments. I get approximately 100+ spams daily in one of my blog.

I don't like blogs for a different reason. Most of them are nofollow, and the ones which are dofollow are irrelevant.

that and if you get a blogger that doesnt like to update. Oh best one is when they can't spell.

I mean there are plenty of good blogs out there but there are just as many bad blogs.

Lucky you. Blocked 2.7 million comment and forum spams at the routers yesterday from known trouble maker IP addresses. Let alone what the spam protection blocked as well. :)

Blog commenting can still make sense if we have a good strategy.

Let's say we can write truly worthwhile articles, that we'd like the blog author to publish, including our link. If we cold call them, we're just another stranger with a pitch jamming up their inbox. If we post interesting comments on their blog for awhile first, then we can evolve past stranger status, and get an opening.

In the end, the question is, do we have anything of value to put on the table?

blogs don't exist to help you promote your site. They exist to promote the ideas and properties of the owners. You aren't happy with that, go create your own blogs. Put them on automatic, and wham. Instant backlinks.
