if you are going to go to college get into business classes and then something to promote creativity like art. Keep both sides of the brain pumping AND not have to deal with a traditional college track
This is a great story, and should really motivate many people. just remember that luck may have a great rule to play in all theses things. In other words, I believe in destiny.
hah - I like it. Seriously, if you think about all of the time and MONEY you put into getting a degree/degrees, and how you could have spent it buckling down to start your own business, and get it off the ground in the 4 years it took to get a piece of paper, it would amaze you. Unfortunately, it's human culture to follow the same path - graduate high school, go to college, work part time. Graduate college, get a full time job in a dead end cubicle prison for 50 years. Fight for a raise you deserve, and find another job when you don't get it. Rinse, repeat. It's a pathetic existence. The best thing any high school kid can do is become friends with the smart kids, get some ideas together and start a website...and keep working at it.
Yikes!!! By reading your post, I only reinforced my decision to keep working by myself. I have been there and done that. It's pathetic and nonsensical to work in one of those oppressing environments without having to do it actually. Those with that knowledge rule the world indeed.
