How do You Convert VHS to DVD?

I have quite a few family VHS tapes that I would like to convert to DVD. My computer has a DVD writer, so I've got the hardware. And I can do a video capture from the VHS to my hard drive.

But after searching the web, I'm uncertain as to what software to use to write the DVD. Of course, I want to set menus and chapters.

Can you DP'ers tell me, what software do you use to write a DVD?

Sakto didn't really answer the question. The DVD authoring software is only half of the process, you actually have to capture the VHS to your computer and then you can move to the "DVD Authoring software" if you choose to do so. Try this link: How To Transfer VHS to DVD | How To Do Things.com

 

Furthermore i'd suggest getting a fast computer, as normally Video Capture Cards tend to capture a stream in Real time AVI which is a pretty heavy format, so in order to make sure that you don't lose any quality (Grainy or good) just make sure that your Rig's setup to properly handle a stream recording.

 

you need a video capture card, video editing software and good storage space. its a complex process. i suggest you check the adobe premiere website for more details.

I'm wondering what software you use to actually burn the DVD. Sakto & jumpjump have made interesting recommendations.

I've read that on some poor DVD burning software, on the DVD the video & the sound can get out of sync. I want to avoid that.

Cos VHS now is I think no longer available in the market...
