Hey guys! I'm new to this forum but not to the world of internet marketing. I'm currently running about 3 marginally profitable websites as a supplement to my 2 jobs (yikes!). So, I decided I would replicate the hundreds of other case studies out there for building a successful site... except for one minor difference. I currently have a one-year business plan and plan on maintaining these updates for a full year! Every day I will list completed tasks, tasks to do, daily income and expenditures and total income and expenditures. Feel free to ask any questions! Hopefully I picked the right forum for this Thanks guys! Day 1: Tomorrow!
Wow! I look forward to your updates. I know you are really serious if you made a business plan and a schedule for a year.
This sounds like an interesting project, and I am looking forward to the results. Be sure to keep us updated. I know that when I updated my own blog at least once a day it gains a better ranking in the search engines. When I do not update every often, it can start slipping back in the results pages.
A case study is where someone keeps track of their progress from doing a specific business model... There very common in product launches, where the owner will get someone to use what he/she is selling, put it into action and show the results... Like a Proof Study, they are very effective to increasing sales and credibility
Rolled into the office at 9 this morning and I got straight to work. Here's what I accomplished during day 1: Bought a suitable domain (am I allowed to post the name of the domain here?) COST: $7.69 Bought a basic hosting plan. COST: $13.95 Installed WordPress and picked a theme. I installed the following plugins: Advertising Manager All In One SEO Pack Smart Youtube WordPress Stats Next, I configured the blog so everything was just the way I like it. I headed over to AWeber where I already have an account but I'll figure that price into my costs. COST: $19.00 I added a confirmation e-mail and web form to my AWeber account and included them on a separate blog page... Set up AdSense and tossed an ad on the blog. I came up with three 250-300 word articles and threw them up to get the blog started. SEO isn't there yet but I just needed some quick content for day 1. Finally I started dropping backlinks in forum sigs on a few sites (not including here). I think thats it for today. So, after day 1: Today's Costs: $40.64 Today's Income: $0.00 Costs To Date: $40.64 Income To Date: $0.00
Goodluck on your case study. I wished we could gather useful information from the results. Keep it up.
Any insight on how you chose your market or domain name? I would have thought that would have been the majority of the work.
Wow man, stick to it, keep updating, and then the members here can help you along the way. Good luck!
Average Joe, I love the idea. I cannot tell you how many times I've started projects that went nowhere. Keep us updated and you will get people interested in you success. That will go a long way toward getting you support from others.
thanks for starting the thread for us to follow your success. Looking forward to tracking your results. Good luck with the project.
Ok... I can't have a sig yet apparently, so the URL is homemoneyblog.com. Day 2 Results: Today wasn't as busy as yesterday, but I still got a lot done. Posted 3 articles: 2 250-300 word articles, and one 600 word article published on ezine articles... pending approval. Built links in some forum sigs, submitted my URL to search engines, commented on some blogs. Set up & configured a twitter account parallel to the blog. Tomorrow I'm back in the office... will probably write 4-5 articles and post some more links. I'm up and running! Oh, and I got my first AdSense click today... $0.14. One step closer to being in the black Today's Revenues: $0.14 Today's Costs: $0.00 Total Revenues: $0.14 Total Costs: $40.64 Oh, and feel free to ask questions/give your input. This is just a study to test how different approaches will work. See you guys tomorrow!
I understand why you say this, however I'm in a launch phase right now... building up a 10 article content base then posting at a slower pace. Day 3 begins
