I found this, so thought to share,NOTE* MODERATOR MAY DELETE THIS THREAD IF FOUND IN APPROPRIATE India Legalizes Gay Sex In Capital City Indian People Happy to Legalizes Gay Sex in New Delhi? Is this what India need?
Given the mindset of the majority of the Indian people, this surely is a very bold step! Wonder whose effort was it, to successfully frame this law...and so quickly! Things never move without a committee or repeated discussion in media, but I heard nothing of it, in this case! Regards, RightMan
Indian law is just modified version of British rules , The problem section 377 was not defined properly for Gays and they won . But goverment is not approved this as off now . What is Section 377? Section 377 in the Indian Penal Code was created in 1861 by the British and outlaws what it calls any acts against the order of nature and the punishment for violating it, can be up to 10 years along with a fine. Section 377 has widely been considered a completely outdated and bizarre law. Activists say Section 377 is a powerful weapon in the hands of police. It is often used to harass gay people. The gay community argues that it also forms the basis for the widespread stigma and discrimination against them. A repeal of Section 377 will also mean changes in civil laws pertaining to inheritance, property and adoption.
Homo sexuality is accepted by medical science and many countries of Europe. The GOI has not approved it though the issue is on the table for discuss. Strong and fearless move by Govt. of India in spite of regional & communal troubles. Welcome the bold movement.
It's not a question of whether India needs it or not. Gays are Humans too. Atlast the Indian government decided to recognise the cause of Gays. Their life will not be that miserable any more.
Frankly speaking, Where India is located and people live there won't allow such step such as priests, saints etc. While its a bad move people will divert more towards gayness. Remember already in India there are many Gays we call them (Hijras,Chakkas) so i guess it will increase and it won't be good for both economy and culture.
