Ok explain this one to me.

    When i search Buy dihydrocodeine

    The first result it
"rx-med.net", a fraudulant site selling Prescription Medication without a prescription.
They have a page rank of 0

www.iBenefitRX.com, legit pharmacy, is 6th, with a page rank of 1

    How does that work?

Pr doesnt affect SERP? Really? I know I'm new to this stuff, but I would have thought that PR is a direct measure of the PR backlinks you have... and therefore the backlinks, and I though SERPs went on backlinks too?

Page rank has a small factor on "where" the site ranks in the results pages. But so do dozens of other factors. Some of those other factors include age, frequent updates, on and off page optimization, site map submission,,,,,. Its important NOT to get hung up on how page rank affects a site. Because if you do, you are going to over look other stuff that might be more important.

That is correct. You need to keep on updating the site's content and building back links can help you get top ranks but you can't guarantee it.

Can't agree more with the above.

However, maybe you should start building more backlinks for your website and your ranking will go up ;)

    Ok so Just to confirm

Off Site Factors = Backlinks (or are there others)

Backlinks = PR (what else affects PR??)

    PR != SERP position

    So what else effects SERPS

In the example i gave the site is NOT newer, its static, and does not seem to be the BEST display for the keywork.

So what else do i need to be doing?

It looks that SEO in rx-med.net is quiet good in targeting that keyword. It's not the question if your site is legitimate or not but it's on the way on how you optimized and promote your site to have a better serp result.

For good serps, you need to get backlinks from similar niche sites and not necessarily higher ranked PR ones.

You got to build good network with several sites in your own niche with lots of emphasis on your own keyword! :)

Low PR does not mean low serp. There are many other factors for serps and I have seen some low PR sites rank higher in serps.

    No one mentions anchor text?

Remember Google bowling? Surely you do! Just take a look at all the sig lines people use in these forums. It is all about anchor text, as I am sure you can tell...
