wow, I'm amazed! The forum we all love, and what we all thought that Google LOVES DP is not true? What's going on guys? First AdSense was banned, now PR is down ?

    Anyone ideas?

    Mods, can you confirm?

I love DP and I'd love to help out if I can!

    Cheers,
    Venetsian.

PR Down doesnt mean penalized infact PR doesnt have any value anywhere including SERPs its just some thing for people to show off and the links market to work

well, in this case linking has nothing to do. This is some sort of penalty which must be found why and removed. DP has tons of high quality links since it contains a vast amount of high quality posts.

Actually I do link to DP a lot. I find some of the threads extremely helpful when trying to explain a particular event or topic. DP is really useful especially for new webmasters and I'm guiding all my clients to signup as digitalpoint members.

who cares? 90% of this forum is regurgitated stuff by newbies anyway, that's probably why it lost it's PR. i hope it goes down to 0PR, then we might get rid of some of the users that only post here for it's link value. either that or the admin makes it nofollow.

I kind'a vote for NoFollow since this will get us rid of all the Link Juice spammers. I guess that may be one of the reasons why it may have been banned in first place. I read so many threads in link sales that people sell their signatures .. this sucksss hard.

DP is very much professional. every one knows. I don't think there's a penalty involved. It could be just that DP lost some quality links ?.

It might have nothing to do w/ penalties. It could be that lots of the pages on DP that were previously linked to by other sites (and still are) have simply been dropped from Google's index or the pages that linked to DP have been dropped from Google's index. Either would cause a drop in PR because those links would no longer be counted.

For example, perhaps they went from having 2 million pages indexed to having on 750,000 indexed (this is totally hypothetical - I have no clue how many pages were previously indexed here). If those DP 1,250,000 pages with inbound links are no longer in Google's index then those inbound links are no longer passing the site PR that could then be passed around the site (and to the home page).

It could be that lots of the pages that were previously indexed have been placed under penalty due to people's sigs and imbedded links in their posts pointing to "bad neighborhoods" and for that reason they were dropped from Google's index. In this case, having sig links and imbedded links in the posts NOFOLLOWed would help.

It could be that lots of ths sites that link to DP have had their own PR decreased because THEIR inbound links have been devalued.

But who knows why it happened. As long as relevant DP post continue to show up in the SERPs and their traffic is basically the same from the search engines, the number in the little green bar is really irrelevant.

I totally second this one :).

Another guess I have about the pagerank issue is during the recent update google has reevaluated backlinks - disregarding certain ones and putting less value on others.

In my opinion, PR means nothing anymore anyway.

In the last 3 years, I've went from PR6 down to PR2 on the toolbar. And I am getting more traffic than ever from google, and I have a lot more links coming than I did when I was a PR6. And I know others with the same story.

I think the relevance of the displayed pagerank has gone down a lot lately.

today i saw pr0 was #1 for a valuable keyword. idont know why it was. but i know pr is not important. and i believe if internet is a ntework. outgoing useful links should be excist in every site although it loses pr. nowadays lots of people are afraid of giving link because of pr.

Too much worry about PR by too many people. Probably one of the reasons why there are so many garbage posts.

A two word response with four links in the sig line sure looks like someone trolling for link juice rather than contributing to an online community.

Im getting PR 3 on as little as 6 links. Its to bad that spammers have to make every one else suffer. I noticed that all DP :Links I had in Google are gone aswell.
