I was looking into the concept of peel away ads, and I was wondering if anyone had any success with them in terms of getting improved CTRs for any of the affiliate programs they were running?

By peel away ads I mean something like this - http://www.adtoll.com/peel_away_ads_faq

A new take on an old theme really.

I havent run any but I wouldnt imagine peel away ads would do any better then pop ups/unders etc, but nice to see some new twists in advertising methods on the net :)

I used a peel away ad on one of my sites about a year ago. It helped make sales at first but after 4 months it wasn't doing anything so I just removed it.

I had used the ad few days back but didn't work out well, one reason that could be coz i didn't design the ad well.

I think this type of ad may have had a good click through rate at the beginning, but then steadily declined - the reason probably being that users may not have come across a type of ad that peels the page away like this, so out of curiosity explored it further to see what it would do etc. Now that people are becoming familiar with it as an advert, subconsciously they are ignoring it.

An ad can work great for one webmaster, while not so great with the other.

The only way to know if it works for you is to try it.

Get it critiqued first before putting it up, though. A lame, crappy ad won't work for anyone, period.

    I agree with Trazer.
I think it depends on the market.
If you are marketing to marketers, then obviously the response is not gonna as good.
I fyou are marketing to internet noobs then it will work well.

I was thinking of putting this ad on a real world business site for which I have setup a Google Adwords campaign. So for the most part the visitors wouldn't be very internet savvy, and the purpose would be to just increase the likelihood they'll call or contact this business.

So I'm just wondering how using a peel away ad might help getting people to contact you, especially if they have already been driven to a landing page.

So do anyone have any specific data they collected from a peel away ad campaign.

And does anyone know if these peel away ads are compliant to the Google AdSense TOS?

The peel away ads blend smoothly with internet savvy person like us, but I'm still open it as long as the banner is attractive and offering somethings that look promises.

The look is great but I don't think you will get a higher click through rate by using one.
