Less Adsense Ads = Good?

Discussion in 'AdSense' started by falarious, Jun 23, 2009.

I am currently using the maximum amount of ads that Google allows.

Would my earnings increase if I were to remove some of them? Has anyone done any testing?

I get thousands of clicks daily and for me more ads has always been more revenue in terms of CPM..

I have done testing with adsense for about an year now..

There have been posts here previously where the adsense you have on a page the more you get paid per click.

    Basically it's quality vs qountity.

Less ads = money earning. think about it, say you have only one ads unit at the top, a big rectangle. then all the high paying ads will compete to reach there and will get max clicks.

now if you have plenty of ads boxes, then low paying ads will come into it which will mean less money per click.

I personally have tried using different number of ads unit/link units in my site/pages. I have found that using max number of ad/link units on a page do not decrease your income.

Some other people may not agree to this: what I said is only based on my personal experience.

I think this depends on not only the type of site, but the position of the ads. I often play around with both text and image ads on my sites and some perform better with images, some with text. Its a bit of trial and error in most cases.

I have found that removing adsense from sites that don't perform well or even from sites with very low cpc can actually be of overall benefit, but you have to try things out and see what works and give it a little time.

I think that the less ads the better as the higher paying ads will show up first as they pay google more to show them

From my experience I always get less amount of money for if I max ed out on teh ads placements allowed. thus I took some of my ads but in not all of my sites or website pages.

you can place the maximum number of ads.No problem. But if you place all those ads and get less clicks on most no.of ad units then you will be in trouble. You need to have a good CTR - that is very important.No.of ads is not a important thing.

You can look to some of the big players in ad units to see what probably works best. For instance I counted 4 ads on one single page on Digg, and of course they are focused on monetizing all that traffic. I would add as many ads as the page "needs". Some pages it makes sense to have only 1 well placed ads. Others that are long or use a different layout can have up to 4.

It varies from site to site.. Try both the options for a week or so.. and use channels to track the performance.. You're the best person to answer the question!

    Yes, less is always more.
Only works if it's placed on a hot zone.
