Looking For A Magazine Style Theme (advice needed!)

    Hey guys,

I'm currently using the Option Theme on my blog, Correr Es Mi Destino.

However, the theme has been discontinued and sooner or later I'm gonna have to change theme...

As you probably noticed, there are thousands of magazine theme around, but I need some recommendations.

I'm looking for a theme which:

    • Has a static magazine page, with info such as "featured article", "categories" etc. (very much like in the Options Theme)
    • Tabbed widget for recent post, categories etc.
    • Good Flickr integration
    • Clean layout (i.e I like "blocks" like in the Options Themes)
    • Compatible with WP 2.8
    • Relatively easy to tweak

I'd rather go with a free theme, but my max. budget for a premium would be around $50 for s single licence.

    I know, I'm picky! :p

    Any suggestion?

I would suggest you to go for some one who does clone a theme..

By doing so, you could be well within your budget, and many featured...Choose some NEWBIE....xperienced charges more

    Thanks for your reply!

Why do you say it would be better to clone a theme? Just curious!

If you really want everything in your hands then try www.wpthemebuilder.com

It can build a magazine style theme for you and with a lot of custom widgets with admin panels in WP-Admin, custom menus, layout options, magazine widgets and much more

Otherwise you may need to find some good coder and pay him

Thank you all for your suggestion!

I really like the Athemia Theme.

I'm also looking at Zinmag's theme and he does a good job apparently.

WP Theme Builder isn't really an option for me. As much as I like tweaking theme, I don't trust me coding skills.

I wouldn't mind paying a coder but again, my website is not commercial so I have a small budget.

$50 is kind of low. If you raise your budget a little, I currently use themes from Solostream, and Livewire from Woo Themes and am very happy with them.

(The Solostream theme is the first link in my sig., I think that one is 'Wp-Smooth', I also use 3 other themes from them)

They have all the specs you are looking for (Flicker integration is as easy as a plug in no matter what theme you use), tabbed widget with popularity , etc, and easy to tweak.

The good ones run around $79 each.

I said to clone a theme instead of buying a costly ones, because you can get the same result in a low expenditure

I have seen your blog. It is really good and unique of its own kind.

Make some minor changes to the borders in sidebar etc.

    It will be perfect

Thank you all for your suggestions!

I decided to go with the Arthemia theme, who had most of the features I was looking for, was free and supported (it has a pretty busy forum).

Solostream's themes were really good but a bit pricey for my budget. I'm not a pro blogger and money is tight!

Your suggestions really helped me make a decision. Thanks again!
