Hello All, Just curious to know that how many of you will turn up to sitepoint marketplace listing - after they have upgraded to flippa and also by looking at their new fee structure... They are now charging flat $19 for all the sites statup - established - premium - if this was not enough then they have also implemented success fee of 5% or a min of $10 I think this is too much... pricing looking at the current web and economic atmosphere... What do you feel? do let me know about it Thanks
Yes... They are charging too much for selling a site. If you can sell a site for $2500, then is worth to try sitepoint. What do you think?
I mean - with their min charge of success fee $10 to a max of $498 is a big flop idea... if i sell a site worth say... $299 its a startup site.. then i had to pay the following:: Listing: $19 Success on sale: $14.95 Total would be approx: $34 If i accept paypal payment then paypal will deduct approx: $20 So in all the effective price that i get is approx: $250 Therefore this stats show that i have to bear: 17% fees on selling my site...that's whopping much high More this is just on selling if it sells and if it does not sell on first go then add $19 deduction to the final pricing i think this will only increase the cost of website selling and in this crunch market... i dont hope this will be able to sustain... this is what my true belief is...
yes i meant that only to urge this issue to fellow forum users too - i surely have to blog about this...
I sold almost 24 startup sites at Sitepoint all were from 60 to 100$ so now I feel its useless to list my site for sale there
they are following the ebay cult of increasing fees. i wish there were other places to sell sites too; so to generate a competition.
I would still list the site up there. They possibility of getting it sold for a good rate is high over there
I dont think so one can negotiate with fees to them - as they have fixed pricing... have never tried.
That is crazy I didn't know they take a commission for selling sites now. They will lose a ton of business for sure.
just an ad to get attention??? buddy i have open this thread to get attention of all... so that sitepoint listens to this... and do something... not an ad...
What does Sedo charge? Talking about how SitePoint is too expensive is advertising for it? This logic basically works with the thought that maybe consumerist.com serves as an advertisement too... because when you talk about how shitty a company is apparently, you get more people to use it?? Or are you talking about his avatar which he is expressing his right to talk about his site in his avatar? The same right that you are using in your signature. In either case, I see nothing wrong. And insist on an escrow service. I would NEVER use PayPal to sell a domain.
Sitepoint has raised its prices because there are barely any sites being listed over there now! I remember last year before the economy turned sour, there were about 20-30 new established sites added to sitepoint marketplace everyday, yesterday I think I counted 10 or 11! Even so, the prices are stupidly high
