I've question about images.google.co.uk for ex. How I can be first for ex. for keyword: "cool car". I must buy links for my pictures, or place images in other sites ?
Google doesn't "rank" images the same way it ranks web pages. The above poster was correct when he said to rename the image. And try to give it a unique name, not something like "nice_house.jpg". It's too generic. Use something unique and make sure google at least has access to it on some web page (some ppl overlook this).
Rename your images something like cool-car-001.jpg and then put them into a cool-car folder on your website. Maybe even name the folders with the brand name of the cars. Example - make a folder on your server named mustang/ and inside of that folder have a bunch of cool-car-001.jpg, cool-car-002.jpg, cool-car-003.jpg and so on. That will give google image search the keywords of yourwebsitename/images/mustang/cool-car-001.jpg. Do the same thing for all of the the brand names or the types of cars you want to target.
Thanks for your posts. ~kev~: If I want be first in "ferrari cool car" I must make folder ferrari and put in folder pic with name: ferrari-cool-car-003.jpg or ferraricoolcar003.jpg ? What's better ?
You do not have to answer this, but what models does ferrari make? Since I do not know, lets use ford. Just some examples: yoursite.com/images/ford/mustang-cool-car-001.jpg yoursite.com/images/ford/ltd-cool-car-001.jpg yoursite.com/images/ford-mustang/cool-car-001.jpg I would go with something like sitename/images/ford-mustang/cool-car-001.jpg Then you could have all of those folders named with brands and models. Maybe even setup different folders, give it a few days - a week and see which images start showing up first. Play around with it and see which one is giving you the best results.
And if the page the images are on ranks for cool car, the images likely will too. you want "cool cars" used on the page in text near the picture, and a few links at the page with anchor text doesn't hurt either
That's good only I would add the naming convention to the pic as well, such as: sitename/images/sitename/images/ferrari-testarossa/ferrari-testarossa-cool-car-001 ... along with putting the same thing in the ALT tag: ferrari testarossa cool car 001
It is interesting to know you would like to rank your images in google image . Google doesn't recognize images, so renaming the images with keywords is of course meaningful .
In addition to the matter of renaming the images, the overall rankings of the sites will also matter. For example, the images contained within the first site about the autos will have better chances of getting found than the ones from within another site that is on the fifth page.
I have had images on very good ranking on Google images for very competitive keywords. In my experience, the domain counts, the content counts, the filename counts, the ALT ahd TITLE of the image counts. [updated] After checking on one of the images i have with good ranking. The title on the file was not related, but the name of the page was, the alt and title of the image was and the word nearest to the image was related.
Consider to use alt image tag for the images.. Image name must be unique in any way to give you extra advantage in ranking images
Beside of what ~kev~ and seoibiz suggested above, I would also recommend using ALT + Title tags for the images it's quite helpful and would increase your chances for targeting your required keywords
i found that to be true too and have gone back to rework some of the photos or when i added new photos took much more attention to the filename and alt tags etc and it definitely did the job. but i'm not in a real competitive niche either....
You said "unique". Then "how" on earth should google know to find and show this image for the searched term "cool car"? If you look up on google image now for the term "cool car", the VERY FIRST result showing up has the name of the image file "cool%20car.jpg". To be exact, it's http://flyingturtles.net/cool car.jpg
