Sorry to ask, but i have posted on a few nofollow's, i checked this with backlinkwatch that i just found. Facebook groups are nofollows for example. What does this do to my google ranking? Do they penalise me for posting my link on nofollows? Thanks.
Everything is explained here: http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=96569
Simple, In nofollow you won't get help for backlinks and SERP. Also those links are not giving a benefit for Google PR.
No google will not give you a penalty for posting on NOFOLOW. Google boot will not follow the link That is it..
Nofollow links do not carry "PR Juice" and anchor text. hence they do not help u in getting better PR nor in positioning in SERPs. They could only visually help other visitors come to your site thru the link
In my opinion, no follow links gives you everything that a do-follow links give..except passing of PR juice. You would do well to built the same anyhow, for good visibility and generating visitors to your site, from well trafficked sites. Regards, RightMan
nofollow means you will not get backlink from that site. Dofollow means you will get backlink from that site.
nofollow is a HTML attribute value used to instruct some search engines that a hyperlink should not influence the link target's ranking in the search engine's index. It is intended to reduce the effectiveness of certain types of search engine spam, thereby improving the quality of search engine results and preventing spamdexing from occurring in the first place. The nofollow attribute value is not meant for blocking access to content or preventing content to be indexed by search engines. The proper methods for blocking search engine spiders to access content on a website or for preventing them to include the content of a page in their index are the Robots Exclusion Standard (robots.txt) for blocking access and on page Meta Elements that are designed to specify on an individual page level, what search engine spider should or should not do with the content of the crawled page.
