Google Vs Microsoft

I want to ask that what is the similarities and differences between Google and Microsoft. This question was asked to me on my final year exam of Engineering and I answered that there is no difference or similarities between them. These are two leading companies of two different fields. But I was said that I was wrong. So can anybody give me the correct answer?

 

Google is leading companies of SE. Microsoft is leading companies of OS.

 

Google gets 64% of the search traffic, yahoo 23% I think and find where the Microsfot and the rest of the world is..

 

Google is a search engine while Microsoft is an operating system.

Similarities, maybe they're the leading companies of their field.

 

The main biggest difference between the two engines mentioned is the matter of finding and evaluating the links pointing at websites because MSN is still focusing over the on page factors.

similarities : Both of them are the best IT company. Google is the best of SE and Microsoft is the best of OS.
differences :
1. Google major market is search engine, Microsoft is operation system.
2. Google major income from ads but Micosoft earn from OS

 

Google have is master in web. Online tools. websites, Map. adword, adsense
and Microsoft is in OS, and development tools, like vb.net

 

The similarity between Google and Microsoft is that both the companies earn their revenues by the use of computers.

The difference is that Microsoft earns its revenues by helping you make use of the computers with the help of their OS while Google earns its revenues by helping you search for the relevant information on the internet with their search engine and ads.
Microsoft is dominant within your PC while google is dominant on the internet!

MS is mainly a Software Development based company and Google is a Web Development based company.

 

Google & MS has got the one basic difference if you can remember.
Google does not make OS as of now...

 

Google seemed to start off to be an internet company, microsoft seemed to start off to be a software company.

I think thats why google does better, they stuck with working at being the royals of the online business world.

Where as microsoft is trying to to a little of this and a little of that.

Its why most rap artists are bad actors they get a little musical success and suddenly they feel they can act too, they would be better of sticking with what they succeeded at.

Microsoft should stick to software, google continues to dominate the online world.

Heres something worth thinking about, i read this last night, a guy says that in the near future he feels that the operating system will kinda no longer be used or needed and that the browser will deal with everything, i think he said too that the storage will probably eventually all be online, like i think he means no more downloading of a software product, the browser experience will become much more powerful, and that connections speeds will allow for this as they increase.

It makes sense to me actually, so although theres differences at the moment between those two companies, maybe they will gel together perfectly to create the future browser/interface experience that we will poissibky have.

You can kinda see the early stages of it now, dont you think? with all of the services that google offers and the encouragement they give you to store everything online.

Google is certainly known as search engines while Microsoft is known for so many things. Microsoft creates useful softwares and it also has its own search engine (MSN).

IMO, Google is more into internet business, while Microsoft do not only in internet business, but wider scope including OS and programming.
