I recently designed and opened www.visitors-online.com. It's a free remote 'visitors online' counter hosting website... I offer free organic backlinks to the top 10 websites using the counters (with a cleanup system to remove sites which stop using the counters). Please review the colour scheme, the text, etc... Anything you can comment on constructively would be greatly appreciated... I always give rep for helpful responses. Thanks a lot, Jack
1. Put Demo of Visitor counter on your site. 2. Remove Ads word on sidebar. Its Google Adsense TOS violation. 3. Use blending ads on bottom of your site. Formatting 336x280 can increase CTR, but not match with your pages. I think its better use 468x60 size.
My Review of Visitors-Online.com _ First impressions: I do like the clean black and white monochromatic look (if you don't believe me you should take a look at my Sims 3 house). There appears to be a lot of different fonts in use. Home Page: On the font front I would recommend changing the font for "How many visitors do you have?". Right now it is bold enough to attract my attention, but not easy enough to read for me to fully register it. Also, I'm not a fan of gradients, the bottom one is passable, but the one at the top of the page is unappealing to me. It goes from black to white to abruptly black again? I just find gradients need to be used properly or they just scream amateurish to me as a viewer. I liked how subdued the ads were, they didn't assault my senses and they matched the colors (or lack thereof) of your site. Speaking of color, would you be totally against changing the colors of the links on your site? Everything is so nice and clean then there are theses bright blue links poping out at me. Maybe something like THIS COLOR ( #005588 ) would work for you? _ Keep up the good work & best of luck, :Gillos: _
I liked the clean look of it, how ever, the gradients and bevel effects look really bad. Plus you need to put a demo counter on the main page.
Thanks for the responses guys! @indoforum - I will impliment the demo; how foolish of me! As far as the sidebar ad goes, I'm sure the AdSense ToS says you can label them with a header of "Ads" "Advertisments" "Sponsored Links" as long as you make it clear they are actually advertisments which will earn you money. I think I agree with you on the bottom Ad too! Thanks a lot, +rep added. @Gillos - I will have a play around with the top How Many Visitors Do You Have image and see what looks good. I did question the top gradient, I might just remove it all together, that's actually one of the main things I was hoping for criticism on! Thanks for the link color headsup; I will definitely play around with that. Thankyou - +rep added @gfxGuy - Thanks for checking over the site; I don't have any bevel effects at the moment! All I have used is gradients for everything.. Again, thanks for the heads up on the demo, I don't believe I failed to do something so simple >.< +rep added. Thanks again guys, I will repost when I impliment your tips!
I feel like something is missing in the header, but I don't know what. Is it a little too high? I would also add a trailing slash to the logo link to your home page - "http://www.domain.com/" instead of "http://www.domain.com" - it saves your server some work...
Thanks for the feedback trvlr; I will certainly get on that trailing forwardslash, I'm not sure why I would've left that out =/ Maybe it was a conflict in my coding (it uses a variable to store the domain without a / I think). I think removing the top gradient will make the header look better. +rep
It would look better if you add some more colours, and improve the header graphic. An icon for your logo instead of that "VO" I think would look better Also try to change the ads background colour. Make it same as your website background.. It's a good factor to increasing your revenue!
Thanks for the feedback, it's always appreciated, however I must point out some disagreements.. Colour isn't always a good thing; simplicity of black and white can prove better in some cases, I will be experimenting with colour at some point however, so I'm not ruling it out completely The "VO" is actually an icon in it's self.. however I do like the idea of using icons around the site so thank you! As far as the adverts go, I understand Ad blending better than you think I just havent bothered with the ads too much because I've not actually publicised the site, I've only done link building for PR so far... I'm trying to polish it off BEFORE I publicise it... Then I will be sorting the Ads out properly.. Thanks +rep Jack
First of all what i like about ur site is the simple design. Well there are many similar services and maybe you could put up a page why you are better than the other also you should change the background of the square ad to white so it matches the background it is in Otherwise all looks good and simple to use
there's many visitors count on net. you should give attention to visitor about "top websites". i like black and white theme, but the box border make this site not well designed
