Hi, all. I just launched a music site that sells instrumentals. There is a subscribers portion of the site that gives users access for $30 a month. And there is also a store for individual purchases. So, far I'm hardly getting any traffic. I'm promoting the site using myspace and facebook, but so far not many visitors and NO MONEY. If anybody runs a music site, would you mind sharing some effective marketing tips?
I've tried everything that's free including bookmarking sites. My # of visitors is increasing, but still no $$$ which is the most important of course. I think i'm going to have to go ahead and start spending some cash.
You need targeted traffic. Why not try PPC Adwords campaign? Try exchanging BANNER links with relevant music sites too.
Launch a youtube channel and publish your original music on it. Then use the vidoes to help drive traffic to your site.
Hi, Post your site in the forum posting, directroy submission, article submiision, social bookmarking. these are the best way to promote your site.
Conversion of Myspace and Facebook traffic is very rare. Either you can go for PPC(Since you are selling something in your site) or you can go for traditional SEO methods as specified above to get SE traffic. But weighting both the methods, PPC is ideal for your niche.
Hi, I dont necessarily agree with the other posts here, in that this is not a "typical" type of site to be promoting. I have one question for you, and a backgroud on what can be achieved for almost nothing. In the music game, it is not always what you know but who you know! My question is: "Are the instrumentals and other tracks - originals?" If they are, the following is possible for you...... I have just (almost) completed 6 weeks work with a 12yo singer/songwriter who had a presence on Youtube. He has written 8 original songs and also plays and sings covers. After 6 weeks this is what has happened..... He is now present on 72 sites, 5 of which have been built specifically for him. The other sites are places like Myspace, Facebook, Bebo, Booyippee, and a whole range of others. One site in particular we started for him 5 weeks ago, and with some serious marketing and promotion, he is now NUMBER 1 on the local Rock charts, and NUMBER 1 (from 8000) on the Local "All Genre" charts. He is positioned at number 400 (from 50,000) global Rock musicians, and we started in that chart at number 14,000! He would have a combined following of more than 40,000 people around the globe, has sold more than $1000 in merchandise, and is in contact with people like Will Smith, Mylie Cyrus, and a couple of others I am not allowed to mention. This is not to brag about anything, this is just to show you what is possible if you are in the world of music! All of this has been completed WITHOUT any of the resources mentioned in other posts in this thread. Hope this helps Bryce
tekboi, just analyse several of you competitors, who successed in your niche, watch from where do they have backlinks and follow their example

from my opinion first you must make your site user friendly and provide them some free services so that they liked to know about you side by side you should focus on both onpage and offpage work, i believe you will definitely get benefits
1. For subscription purpose you can go with sites facebook, youtube, myspace, i.e, social networking sites. 2. When you will recieve good traffic to your site then there will be good subscription and sell from your site. But major problem for you to get good traffic....... 1. Do the keyword research of your industry. 2. Do the Daily News posting or article posting on your site, it will help you in getting massive traffic. ( Install wordpress for this purpose coz it broadcast news and article instanly within couple of minutes) 3. On page optimization of your site. (metatags, internal linking, sitemap submission and........) 4. After follow the steps mention above by Angel and other members. 5. Your main target is to acquire quality of backlinks. 6. Subscription can be acquire from other sites but mainy sell is done from genuine site and sell can be generated by search engine ranking of your keyphrases.
