Is it eeffectively to promote site with google groups?

    Is it eeffectively to promote site with google groups? How many users visit this groups? Many of groups are very spammed and contain a very little useful information on their subject

    I did mine with Yahoo groups a couple years ago - regretted it. You still can get traffic from them.
    The number of users really vary.

    Go with organic SEO - you can't go wrong there if you are looking for free traffic.

    In my experience Google Groups has gone pretty far downhill ... a lot of spam and stuff

    Joining and posting in Yahoo groups can boost your traffic. But it's a matter of joining the right group. It should be relevant to your niche.

    It is always good to promote in google groups.. Before that make sure that group is worth promoting..

    I have done for yahoo groups, I could not get more traffic as I get from yahoo search.... Most of the group admins had banned me and did not publish my msgs etc etc... We cannot get from there for the work done... that is really crazy.....:)

    you can promote your site with yahoo or google groups but make sure you are an active perticipant on those gorups. dont just post with your link which will be considered as spam. if you join related groups and participate, then you can use your site link in the signature which will be OK
