I don't often click adsense ads on other people's sites, but today I found an ad that genuinely interested me. I clicked on the ad and it timed out while waiting for doubleclick.net. I tried again on a different page and it still didn't work. I wonder how often this happens with adsense. The ads themselves were appearing almost instantly, but the clicks just wouldn't work right. Has anyone else ever experienced this? Makes me shudder to think how many clicks I lost because of something like that.
Just click on some ads and it works fine. I never facing the problem you mentioned. Maybe something wrong with the coding on the website you clicking
I think the click would still register with Adsense ... it's not the publishers fault that the advertisers site is bizarrely slow ... the fact that you got the doubleclick.net URL going shows that the click has already been processed by google (assuming the process is Your Ad Clicked > Google's Server > Advertisers Site)
Doubleclick.net is google's ad server, not the advertiser's server. It timed out waiting for google. Just mouse over any adsense ad and you will see doubleclick.net for the url. I am fairly certain it wasn't a problem with the site I was trying because I went to another random site afterward and it was doing the same thing. It IS possible it could have been a problem with my computer since I rarely click on adsense ads. It is just odd that the one day I decided to click an ad it timed out. I am still getting adsense revenue for the day so I know the whole system isn't down - it just makes me wonder how many times this happens. If the advertiser is charged, then they are getting ripped off. If the publisher isn't getting paid for the click then they are getting ripped off. One of the two happened today.
