Hey guys, Ive been working on a website for ages now and apart from couple of things on there, its pretty much completed. My website is a video sharing website built for artists or any creative person that has a show reel. For instance, if you are an animator or director and would like to share your film to the world my website offers this services. I have just offically launched it today and I need some feedbacks and some advice how I can promote it? Any ideas would be great thank you! Den

You can use google adwords for instance. adwords.google.com. You can buy adwords voucher and have about 1000 clicks for only 5-10$.
Does it mean it's also musicians? If it is target bands and stuff on myspace. There are tons of musicians on myspace
Hi ya daurubio, there are a number of ways you could promote your site to get traffic. Unless you have some video already made that showcases what your web site is about I'd suggest you start with something like Blogging or Article submission (do a Squidoo lens). That might be easier than doing a video promo.... In looking at your web site I notice a few things that you could add (or rearrange) that would help. 1. some kind of "welcome this is what we're about" statement on your home page. Doesn't have to be long-winded but should use key words & have good content (good for SEO and getting picked up by Google etc). 2. Even though you have a target audience, give them a reason to sign up (opt-in, log in...). Don't presume it's obvious. You actually have some of these things but they're kind of scattered: on your Community & Members page, your "about us link". Re: YouTube etc. you might visit other peoples videos that you like and invite them to add them to your site.... Just some quick observations and thoughts. Good luck with your site! ZM

once you have a funny or unique video content,you can try to post it to digg or delious.That will get you noticed.rest of ideas are mentioned here.Try commenting on blogs(with related video content) that will help generate awareness about your site. hope it helps
Visit local clubs, approach the bands directly and in person. Introduce yourself, give all of the band members a business card and offer to let them use your site to promote their music. Maybe you have a section where bands can put their CDs up for sale? So there is a financial advantage to joining your site.
What are your main targeted keywords? Optimize your site for those keywords and start building backlinks for your site as Google traffic is the easiest, long term and targeted. Maybe you can start with creating anchored text in your forum signature with your main keyword on, instead of an URL like that.
Article Marketing and submitting Press Releases can get you great exposure now and 20 years from now as well.
Press Releases really help get exposure with other companies. + they give you tons of backlinks from a lot of unique urls.

the best way to promote video related websites are youtube...... stick with youtube, else try adwords
