Quality Score - 10/10: My experience.

I thought 10/10 was just a number and Google never assigns it to any keywords. I was so wrong. Last week they assigned 10/10 to 4 out of 5 keywords in my Ad group and they are still holding their position:

    Here is what I did:

    1. Created a landing page on an already established blog of mine.
    2. Submitted articles to 4 Press Release agencies and linked back to this page.
    3. Removed all Google Adsense ads from this page. (for minimal user distraction. Moreover I think Big G doesn't like adwords traffic to be sent to adsense filled pages.)
    4. Put genuine testimonials from my past buyers on the left side bar.
    5. A chat box on the right side bar if someone wants to talk to me.
    6. Described my services in detail.
    7. Had the same keyword in the landing page copy atleast 4 to 5 times as it is there in the ad-copy.
    8. Made sure that privacy policy, Contact Us page is present.
    9. Made sure that Description meta tag should also have the same keywords present.

Might be some more things I did to optimize it ...will update the thread if I get to remember them

    Trust it will help you.

Thanks Michael T. - Glad you liked it.

    Here are some more:
    1. I have my landing page URL exactly the same as display URL. [I understand that this may not be possible in all situations] but possibly this may be the reason for my QS.
    2. Landing page load time is fast. This is what Google says "Load time is faster than the average in your server's geographic region." That means optimize your pages for fast loading. If using wordpress, go for cache plugins etc.

I think part of the goal of reaching 10/10 is QS history. 4 of my kw have achieved it this year 3rd year of using them in Adwords where before they always hovered around 8 or 9.
I optimize within the parameters above except I don't have a contact us page although my address and telephone number are all over the site. As has been mentioned privacy policy is vital.

If you offer a service to the public that is non internet sales (they visit you to buy or you provide a service) then you also need a terms and conditions page. If they visit your premises and spend some time there enjoying your service then also consider adding an access statement. It's all relevant and additional information and we know how the big G likes relevancy!!

A couple of months ago I started optimizing my site for the generic listings given the huge amount of KW data I had amassed from Adw. Anyway given the excellent advice found on DP I am now starting to get into some real good positions in the SERP 3 or 4 on certain search terms (others are harder to crack) so am really pleased with that.

Always remember the data Adw accumulated over time within your campaigns will be a gold mine.

Everyone knows this can't effect quality score.

    This also has no effect.

Quite a few of my keywords are 10/10 with Adwords. I don`t try particularly hard it just happens with some, though a lot are around 7/10, even 4/10.

Anyway, I have to agree it is nice to know when the Big `G` approves our efforts, so well done on your achievements with your SEO.

Not sure though about this, I don`t think it makes any difference at all-

Probably it does. May be it is one of the factors where they judge the Quality of your landing page and make sure that you are not indulging in adsense arbitrage.

    Many times I get 7/10.
What I found is that when the landing page contains an outgoing link or 2 which use the keyword in the anchor it can improve your QS.

Google doesn't like dead-ends. They want pages where the user has many options to navigate to other places / sites that are related.

This is why the AdBot likes WordPress landing pages so much - because Wordpress always has all these tags and category links with related keywords.

I now always include some articles on the topic and link to them from the landing page and I also link to 1 or 2 authority sites in the niche.

I have found that it takes way to much time to try and optimize for 10/10 scores. About 15% of my keywords end up as 10/10's my advice is to aim for 7/10 as a base line, and then when you have been using your campaign. Go back and optimize only those pages that you are spending a lot of money on that convert. That way you are not wasting your time. Here is the quickest way to get 10's

use the keyword in you ad title or ad, in your presented url after the slash, make sure that the landing page your are sending them to has the keywords in the file name i.e. for dating singles you would want ...dating-singles.html make sure your keywords are in the title tag, h1 and h2 two tags but not all identical. Works everytime. Oh, and work on getting your ctr as high as possible with great ads and good targeting.
