Hi all, I currently operate www.aussietravellersforum.com.au After 6 months of work i am still on getting 15 - 20 visits per day. I have submitted to directories Created facebook groups Use twitter told all my friends Paid for a bit of adwords Had articles published in print media etc etc Yet i still only seem to be getting minimal traffic. Any advice or tips? Or stories of how you got your traffic going? Please dont give me the standard 'work hard' or 'share links' etc. I know the theory, but i cant seem to get it to work in practice. Thanks
You have a pretty nice site. I've actually recently developed a unique traffic generation method. Never before preached, seriously. This might help you out. You can check it out in my sig or here. http://torrenttraffic.com If you have any questions feel free to PM me. Hope it works out for you. Cheers Eric
Maybe it is your keywords? How many people search for aussie travellers etc? Also, your forum does not yet have that much content, since it is fairly new. I think you will find that once you start building up pages/content, you will probably see more traffic. good luck!
My niche is not related to yours at all, but I do have a forum, and one thing I did was start a blog for the homepage. It has actually done a pretty nice job of increasing traffic and might be worth it for you. You can check out my site below to see what I did.
I agree that a blog would be really helpful in your case, as well as the implementation of some useful SEO copy. Nothing over the top, just something to put you higher in the rankings. Also, have you considered doing link exchanges with other travel websites? I know that lots of other popular travel blogs and sites would jump at the chance for some easy advertising on a fellow traveller's site.
Nice forum. Not sure how much traffic this will get you, but you could try putting some flyers up in travel and visitor centres. Might get you a few more members.
semi-false. I used to submit my ebooks to file sharing networks all the time. What I would do is find out what keywords were in demand that my ebook covered and out of all those keywords I would name a copy for that keywords. Have have the same ebook under multiple names.... got lots of traffic from that. you can do the same with torrents. To answer your question... just continue to do what you are doing. If you are getting small amounts of traffic then build... build... and build using same methods that are working for you. Set yourself up for immediate and long term traffic.
first remove all the garbage from the home page immediately. you dont need huge texts and ad at this stage. why did you put an ad there? you earn 0.01 cent/day with it and its disturbing people - makes no sense. second, main forum categories should be right on the home page. you cannot tell people 'click link on the left to see categories' that simply doesnt work today. and not what you have now. remove this huge box of introduction text. today, websites should tell everything in ONE single statement... this is way way too much. no one reads it. (((((((((( Welcome to ATF, ATF is a place for travellers of all types to discuss anything and everything to do with travel. )))))))))) logo - put australia and backpacks! must tell it is for travellers... right now it doest tell me anything... and colors are washed out. i am sure if you do all that the picture will change!
Oh, I might have mis communicated myself. By never been preached before I mean't it hasn't actually been discussed or talked about fully online. Sure there might be a select number of people who know about it however it has never really been put down as a "traffic generation" method. To OP. An average about 6 months gets traffic from anywhere 50 visitors to 1000. It all depends on the constant promotion that has been implemented. I recently established a site which I hardly promoted but because it was closely linked with another one of my sites after the first month it was receiving a constant 200 visitors per day. I think the key thing to note is constantly updated, pinged and search engine optimized content. Hope this helps.
Have you gone to forums where people might be interested in your forum? And should target some other keywords than your domain. I don't think it gets to many searches
I agree. The more content you have the more traffic you will receive. Is your site search engine optimized? That is the key to lots of free search engine traffic.
Try to keep on updating and social book marking. Even then if you are not getting traffic try to buy some seo software and apply it. I hope you can get atleast the double of the traffic which you are getting now.
