    Hello,
These days we are getting lot of SPAM through PM & many of us are already tired of reporting it. How about disabling PM option for Peons like on other big boards to decrease PM spam ?

    Thanks.

Good idea! On Warrior Forum you need 15 posts to send a PM. There is very little spam there via PM.

This has been asked and answered numerous times. In the future, please search before starting a thread that may already be covered. Repeated questions count as duplicate threads.

We've already covered this, but here's a quick summary of some of the reasons:

    1. Doing so would limit new members' ability to contact staff and other members with legitimate questions.

    2. The spammers that hit the most are incredibly persistent, and it would be a far bigger mess if they were able to (or forced to) post their garbage all over the forum first. We don't have the staff available to deal with that.

    3. Even if we wanted to, we couldn't. Shawn's not around to implement that sort of change.

    4. With the recent phishing attempts by some of these PM spammers, it would be much worse if their phishing links were publicly posted, sucking in more members than they can reach via pm (people who don't carefully check the links before clicking may end up with a hacked account).

    5. While new members may not start new BST threads, they are permitted to take part in deals posted by others there. We not only recommend using the PM feature to express interest in a deal, but we require it. Not allowing them to would lead to more bumping posts because they'd have no other option, would unnecessarily limit many legitimate business deals, and would be another huge amount of posts to clean up which we simply don't have the manpower to deal with as things are.
