Just received another great entry via pm - this time from graphicsunplug. I've also asked that they post the entry here to make it fair for all of you.

Edit: entry is posted above - thanks graphicsunplug :)

    Heres the feedback:

"I really like this design. It needs quite a few tweaks but it looks very professional and pretty much hits exactly where I want it to hit. Great work. Ok heres the tweaks I'd like to see please :)

Could you try putting some sort of background watermark image behind the logo at the top - I think that might look very plain up there when printed.

I'm not keen on the white arrows in the middle section - if you could try something else there please that would be great...

Please replace the 'satisfying all your graphic.........' with 'A One Stop Shop for all your Website Requirements'

Love all the images in the middle section

Not keen on the colour of the Services box... maybe we could try the blue there?

Would like to see the list items bolder and not itallic please

    Love the little mouse image

The bottom section with all the contact details etc looks a bit disjointed... lots of different sized fonts, colours, alignements, and lower and upper case text.

Not keen on the background orangey/browny colour behind the bottom logo.

It looks like I'm pulling this apart but I'm really not. I really like the design... great work :)

    Thanks"

Thanks for the revisions technoguy... really appreciate it.

I'm not sure if I prefer the original or the revised version...think its possibly the original actually. With the extra text in the revised version now looks a bit crowded doesnt it? Maybe the font could do with being a little smaller?

Cant really think of any other revisions to be honest... its a nice design.

    Thanks Technoguy

I'm really torn between yours and graphicunplug designs now... which is strange because they're totally different. I think graphicsunplug is probably slightly ahead because theirs looks a little more professional... which I think is possibly due to the dark section in his design..the black background seems to take it to another level.

I've by no means made up my mind yet though!!

    Hi there,

I have retired after 38 years in the business and perhaps I need to go back into retirement because I am having a bad day?

I get upset at clients who pay the price of a good coffee and treat us as if they we are dog fodder. If you have such good capabilities with all these fantastic attributes why would you come to this forum, why not design your own logos?

As I said, I am 57 years old and have been using the tools for over twenty years and only have a first degree and three post graduate degrees, so what do I know?

    LTL,

    Have a nice day......

If you're 57 years old, and have been in the business for 38 years you should know how to take constructive criticism by now. No need to fire insults at people because they don't like your work very much. Also, having X amount of degrees means nothing in the design world - it's not something you can fully teach or learn, you either know what looks good or you don't.

Some designers don't like designing for their own companies and I am the same. I am never satisfied with what I produce when it's for my own company and prefer to get ideas from elsewhere.

That is so rude! If you cant accept feedback then I suggest you do not enter contests. I'm sorry to say that your work does not look like it came from someone who has been working in the field for years and years. I wont state my reasons any further because obviously you cant take it, but in future please do not enter my contests (which I'm sure you wont) and I would suggest you dont enter any others as it obviously upsets you too much.

    Thanks Daveboy

You're exactly right... I hate designing anything for my own business... far more difficult than designing for a client. But on top of that I'm a Web Designer not a graphic designer and people need to accept that that is a completely different field. I come here to pay people whom I know can do a far better job than me. I do however know what I like and dislike, and try to give as detailed feedback as possible, which I believe to be only too fair when someone has taken the time to put together an entry for me.

Fantastic work Will... really like this!!

I'm really struggling to give feedback or changes to be honest (thats a good sign obviously!!)

Could you try and slot in this statement please:

"Specialising in meeting the needs of Small Businesses"

If it becomes too cramped you can lose "No job too small"

    Great work!

OK... at the moment its between willhaynes and graphicsunplug (I've received a revised version and have asked that they post it here again)... both totally different but both very professional looking. Will is probably at Number 1 though I'd say.

Will - I love how simple but very effective yours is. My only concern is orange text on the blue background, and that there is possibly too much blue? Maybe just toning down the blue a bit would fix that? Thats really being picky though honestly because I really do love it.

graphicsunplug - love your design too. I've printed both yours and Wills off to show the family and they've all said that you instantly know its related to websites (which is great), but that possibly your design looks like its trying to sell more things, because its so busy maybe? I'm not too sure.

I'm really torn to be honest. I'll wait to see if we receive anymore entries today... and if not choose a winner this evening.

    Thanks :)

    Thanks Will... looking excellent!

I've had a request via PM to keep the contest open for another 24 hours, so I'll announce the winner after that entry has been received. After much deliberation today, Will is definitely the one in the lead. Great work :)
