How to promote my website??

I have set up a internet networking website using ning services.

Currently I have about 1335 members.

Anyone has any good ideas that can help me promote my website and increasethe membership?

Well, how did you get those 1335 members?

Advertise your site. If you want to make money on a consistent basis, you are going to have to spend it.

Next to word of mouth, there is no other way.

Study up on it.

If you are not willing to do it, then you will not be going very far.

I see something on your site right now that would make for a great ad.

I have tried "pay to sign up", google adwords ( expensive ) Yahoo ( not responsive traffic ), linkreferral ( monthly fee )...

 

all the usual suspects.. do you have a blog on the site? Social marketing... PPC... linkbuilding... blog commenting... forum commenting... articles... videos... how long a list do you want?

 

Just continue what you did to get all those members!

i would be interested in knowing how you built up the membership
of more than 1000 members?

as am experiencing it is easier to make sites but that easy to promote it,
however, you can host it at number of seos who are doing free hosting.

Id recommend offline advertising.
Try your local paper, hand out flyers or ask to place your business cards somewhere
Offline advertising is cheap and can be incredibly efficient.

 

Focus on your target audience when promoting. Make sure you use other social sites to promote yours facebook, twitter, myspace, youtube, digg, and the thousands of others.
