I am looking for a blog that is easy to use, requires no software downloads and is free or inexpensive
I was using wordpress but they have suspending me for a few backlinks to my site so I am looking for something that is similar but lets you promote you site via links to it in an effective way
By the way I have a blogger blog already so I am looking for a blog to replace my wordpress blog.
I am not intersted in spaming, just want some links back to my site from my blog

I tried to build a mew wordres blog and as I was going though the proses I kept running in to a page that said there was an error so I am giving up on them. I don't even know what the problem is that caused me to be suspended from wordpress and when I get in to correct what I think it is there is no way to edit my post. To me they are saying you screwed up and we really don;t need you.

I need a blog that does not mind if we use it to make our websites do better. I am not interested in such things as bloging my life. I want to succeed online and need a blog that will let me do that. Linking to my site via a blog roll in any blog software other than wordpress would help.

I am not interested in the download version of wordpress because after downloading it I was not able to gain access to it.

If you want to spend $20 on a 1 year www.xanga.com membership you can do that. Doing so allows you to place adsense on a xanga blog as well as utilize amazon associates.

If not, you can still try www.xanga.com, its really easy to use and the community is relatively easy to work in your favor. Theres nothing against posting links to promote a website, and if there is then they don't penalize for it unless you are doing something really illegal.

Why not just open up a blog on Blogger? They allow you to have multiple blogs and they let you put advertisments, etc. on it

The best way to do what you want on your blog without having to worry about TOS and such is to own your own. Plain and Simple. It doesn't matter if you use Word Press, Blogger, Joomla or what ever. You are going to have learn how to use what ever you choose.
You can't have it both ways. Free and easy, yet complete control.
I find word press very easy to use, but you have to take a few moments to learn it. Everything is not going to be point and click and all set up for you like blogger is.

If you take a second, and read the installation instructions (which will take all of 5 minutes), you can have a word press blog up and running in about 3 minutes.

Yea, self-hosted Wordpress is definitely the way to go if you are serious about this. It is very easy to set up and it is very powerful.

It is better to have your own hosting, then at least you can make sure your blog not being suspended or deleted.

Yes it does. that is the only way to access the files of your blog to make customizations, add themes, plug ins, and updates.

It's not such a big deal, you can get a free one from Mozilla http://fireftp.mozdev.org/ and it works just fine.
Many wordpress updates are automatic, just set it up with your access information and press a button. Just about everything else is "Drag and Drop".
Everything has instructions that are easy to follow. Once you use it for a couple of tasks it will seem like second nature and you will wonder why you waited so long to host your own blog.

You can always get plenty of help here. There are a lot of Word Press users of all levels around.

When I started my first self hosted blog I didn't know anything. I got most of my answers with the help of DP members, and reading an occasional tutorial.

FTP clients aren't a big deal- there are many free ones as hmansfield said- I personally like Filezilla.

FTP clients make things a lot easier, but technically you don't need them- you can upload everything through your hosting panel, although that is very tedious.
