Why the SERPs improved so slow?

    I use a tool to find my SERP ranking report like this.

    ---------------------------------
    5/7/2009 Trend Report:

    1 : rank# 115 ::
    2 : rank# 501 ::
    ---------------------------------
    5/17/2009 Trend Report:

    1 : rank# 96 ::
    2 : rank# 465 ::
    ---------------------------------
    6/10/2009 Trend Report:

    1 : rank# 78 ::
    2 : rank# 441 ::

    From above trends info I think it may take more than 6 months to be in top 10.
    My question is.
    Why the SERPs improved so slow?
    Are there any good ways to help the ranking better?

    Theres no fast way in SEO
    And for competitive markets it can take more then 1 year
    Olso it depends on your "eforts"

    SERP is updates for every minute, no choice to slow
    but may be ur site is taking time to get in to SERP
    as much u do better promotion of ur site, as much u will on top in SERP

    maybe you are in a competitive niche ?i think your competitors are also doing a great job.so you need to do more .

    Thanks guys for sharing your experiences.
    Hope it is not going to take a year to be the top 10.

    Yet,
    The up trends are getting slower and slower
    look the front 10 days SERP ranking went up 19 = up 1.9 /day
    the second period, 24 days SERP went up 18 = up 0.75 /day

    It been estimated the top 10 might appear the site this December if I do keep working harder .
    Things are getting more and more difficult.

    Now I know why people want to pay for SEO
