Cross border and domestic fees ?

I have a personal paypal account and was never charged any fees for receiving payments - Now, I see a new section of fees - What are these and how can they be avoided ? Are they applicable for everyone ?
This is really bad for PP users - I read in this forum that if you pay using personal tab you can save up on fees ? Is it ok to do so ?

Hi These charges are applicable even on personal accounts. Check your account (click on fees section).
Yes, I am talking about receiving payments and I have not accepted any credit card transactions.

I was about to open a new thread about this. Luckily catched yours...
I too was surprised to see that I was charged paypal fees for receiving a payment sent thru paypal balance (from the sender). BTW mine is a personal account and I am aware they charge fees to receive payments made thru credit/debit card.
Their fees structure doesnt seem to be changed. I guess this is a glitch in the system as they recently made changes to their site.
I have contacted paypal for this.
Maybe you too can contact paypal...

Ok, I got the answer from someother thread here in DP.
Nowadays they charge fees even for personal account (and even if the payment source was from paypal balance). Initially they used to charge fee only if the payment source was from credit/debit card or echeck

Try to send payments from your paypal account.
It shows 2 options: a) Personal b) Commercial

Personal is applicable only for few factors like gift, living expense, money owed etc.

All others fall under commercial transaction (which means a fee would be charged).

As most of us (webmasters) offer our services for money - it would fall under commercial transaction.
If you try to take advantage of the system (for example: sending payment as personal even though its a commercial one) - maybe they would take severe action.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So no more benefits for personal account (for freelancers). Time to upgrade your account to Premier Account to reduce the fee amount. I have already done it...
And be ready to share some portion of your hard earned money to Paypal (on every transaction)...
    Isn't that sweet?
