DP Problems or Questions? Read Here

Due to the fact that DP has so many members and the servers haven't been upgraded for a long time, they have become overloaded which causes problems for the vast majority of DP members.

So, instead of making a thread to ask, here are some tips:

• If whenever you log in you become logged out again, then tick the "remember me" box. There are some problems with sessions so the only real way to stay logged in is to do so. If you are on a shared computer then remember to log out afterwards.
• If you have received an email saying you have a new PM, but it is not in your inbox, then just be patient as there is some delays in the database since it is so large so PMs take a while to appear
• The same applies for PMs appearing as unread after you have read them
• If you appear to be the only person online at the bottom of the forum, then you are not, it is just a bug, so there is no need to make a thread about it.
• You want to contact an admin? Well Shawn is busy so you will need to contact a moderator - they can deal with the majority of problems - you can see online moderators here: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showgroups.php
• If you cannot access the forum, or have strange delays or problems when browsing or posting then it will be database issues, so take a break or try to go on at less peak times (eg. not the evenings) - clearing your browser cache and cookies may help
• No, you can't change your username.
• If you receive a spam PM, then forwarded it to a moderator.
• If you receive an infraction then don't post about it or you will get another, just read here: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=216611
• If you have a question about itrader, infractions, spam, reputation or anything else then check the sticky threads in the suggestions forum and do a search - what you are asking will have been asked before.

 

Nice list, but people will STILL keep asking these questions over and over again.

Thank you for posting this list. Hopefully it will help user and mods frustrations.

 

Better yet; fix the server problems and we wouldn't have to worry about trying to explain to people that they should just deal with all the preventable server issues that come along with surfing DP.

 

This must be a sticky thread, great information to solve many problems in these days.

What is Shawn so busy with?

As Radz says only Shawn (even Rob doesn't have full admin) can implement things such as server upgrades etc. - And Shawn hasn't been doing anything for ages.

 

I agree it will be helpful to be pointed to in the FAQ even...

 

Hey I've been here for a while and this even answers some of my questions.

I still don't understand why the server still is overloading though. Is Shawn poor or something that he can't afford decent servers? Doesn't DP make enough money?

 

When you have a court case against ebay, you will be very busy.

 

Wouldn't a lawyer be taking care of this? I don't see why this should mean there is no time left in the day to do a VB update?
