This seem to have been a lot in the last couple of weeks, including one of the sites I write for, and I hope it's just temporary. You can request a site reconsideration w/ Google webmaster tools.

I was on the first page for a term with over allinanchor: 160 million results. Chances are it was from the redirect or slight change in title..whatever the case is, the alogirthm changes now and again, so you have to tweak your onpage seo and see if that helps. If not, time to focus on the terms you still do rank for and hope it picks up later down the road.

Maybe there is something to do with the recent update of Google page rank.

it's happening to a lot of people lately....
it has happened to me a couple times over the past month.
It seems whenever I do much changing to the site or get a flurry of backlinks it happens.
It is almost like a sandbox effect while Google waits a couple of days to see if your updates are complete.
I have come back better each time though.

I heard of peoples sites been indexed while they are performing on site maintenence and also when the sites are temporaraly down. This can have a very negative affect on your rankings but is just really bad luck really.

You should always be adding content to your site.

Besides that, if this is a new site, do not expect a steady ranking until your site is at least 1 year old. It "might" get a somewhat steady ranking at around 6 months old. But google takes its sweet time when ranking new sites. There is nothing you can do about it.

Do not be surprised if the site shows back up on pages 1, 2, 3 or 4 of google for its targeted keywords, then disappears again. That is just the way things work.

If the site is 2, 3 or even 4 years old. Then I would worry. But if this site is any less then 10 - 14 months old, dont worry about it.

The site is less than 2 years old, but I made a lot of modifications to it, it is like this(with this script) since the beginning of this year or so.

Just keep working your site as normal. I see they are doing a lot of testing at Google.
The different versions of webmaster tools are even displaying different information.
I recently started a link building campaign and see that I have been sandboxed again.
But I also note in the WM Tools that I have jumped in the serps though I cannot see them in an actual search as of yet. If the pattern holds as it has been I should be back in a couple of days matching what the Webmaster Tools are reporting.

The same thing has happened to my site twice in the past two months. Rest assured, after about a week the PR came back.

I've had sites disappear completely from the rankings for no apparent reason, then about 10 days later it reappeared.

There are 2 options: Either you did some important change to your backlinks / site or there was a Google algorithms change that led to your ranking drop...

I have never had problems with my websites disapearing from google. Ok you can decrease and loose positions but in that case just update your website and put new content!

I came back today better than ever as I was hoping I would. I have moved above the fold on many terms and now ranking for terms that never showed before.
Maybe this is how Google puts some excitement in our lives :)
