Can you still get a decent ranking with squidoo lenses?

Title says it all....I know that ezinearticles are probably the best for SEO and ranking high in google but I am interested in squidoo.

 

Theres not 1 things that can get you rankings ...

Many factors => good rankings ..

 

Well I was thinking about making a lens to target one keyword with 2k-5k searches a month and then build backlinks and do all the SEO I can to get to the first page.

I am just wondering if squidoo has SEO potential.

 

I've got lenses with PR 2-3 with very little effort. Most of them don't do real well in the serps though.

 

they do alright, probably not as well as they used to though
For me I have found that they seem to rank better in Yahoo than Google

 

squidoo has SEO potentials. I once used squidoo to optimize a certain keyword last december 2008 and I succesfully ranked my squidoo lens as no.2 and on top of it is my main site

That's the problem,I am not interested in PR,who cares about PR if I can't get traffic from that lens.

 

maybe can use a few free blog with squidoo and setup a rotating link to your web or blog.

 

If done properly, You can definitely improve ranking with squidoo lenses

 

squidoo is not what it used to be 2 years back, thanks to all spammers for spoiling it for the rest of us. it however is still an authority domain and if you build a properly optimized lens and do the neded promotion as you said, then for sure it has good potential

 

you could get backlinks from it, as i have read on some forums squidoo lenses are/can be a dofollow which gives backlinks to our site. but in terms of SERPs, i doubt it could give us a lift. I still haven't tried optimizing my lenses though....

 

How do you optimize the squidoo lenses?
Do you just have 2% key words on a quality article and than search engines spider it and rank it high because it is squidoo?

I have started using squidoo lenses to target niche keywords. At worst i guess it gives me a backlink within relevant text. How much google will count that backlink i don't know. I am using it with hubpages, ezinearticles and other sites to try and help create some relevant anchored backlinks as part of my off page seo strategy.

 

Its all about the information on your lens, if it's cached by Google and got good ranking, you will surely get good PR and traffic for your lens. But for it, you really need good and interesting information on your lens.

While doing google searches on topics, I do not remember EVER seeing a squidoo lens that showed up in the results pages. And I am talking about generic searches where I am looking for information on topics. Even though a lot of people promote squidoo lenses, I think google ranks them in the spam department.

 

i dont understand Squidoo, what does it do?
