it gets its alexa ranking because the domain redirects to defog.netfirms.com

so alexa is simply rating traffic to netfirms.com; not this particular domain.

I'm not sure how that works, but when i check the alexa ranking for defog.us, it says that. Is that different? Because defog.us was hosted under netfirms before (i think so)

Correctus, i seriously doubt that it is so low. It has 2 listings on DMOZ, and I think that is worth pretty much. Also, being a PR2 with traffic even though it's in a parked page.

    Thank You,
    Donny

I'd like to know what it's about as well.

Also, are both the links from DMOZ to pages within the site, or is atleast one of them to the homepage?

Do you know when it was listed in DMOZ.

Does the specific content to which DMOZ links to still exist?

Please answer all my questions as accurately as possible, I am very interested in this.

    Hi,

Firstly, after som discussion, I have to say that the alexa ranking is in fact, fake :). 975 ranking? Wow. Anyways, it must have been the links to netfirms on it's front page, being there for a pretty long time.

    As for Jesus_Christ:

I am not sure about this name, because I bought this domain name about a month ago. But, after checking http://www.iwebtool.com/defog.us, this is where I found the info. I'm not sure why it has only 1 dmoz listing now, but it did have 2 yesturday or so.

    Thank You,
    Donny

yup, I remember a thread here on DP which said, it's NOT a good idea to list domains with dmoz listings in public for links or site sales thread, especially when dmoz is indeed a selling point. I think we all need to learn that as a lesson.

The fact that it's on a parked page at a domain/website reseller is more likely the culprit for the DMOZ removal ... ;)

Buying a domain that does have listings would require quick action IMO to try and maintain them .... even if it meant spending a little time or money to throw up a few good content pages - FYI for future ...
