Is it a common trend now with search engines dropping directory backlinks?

I went from top 10 for all my keywords to totally removed from serps and I didn't do anything drastic to the site.

The good thing is that google has been loving my site lately and I have excellent rankings in msn so that helps, but I just don't understand yahoo at all. :(

I just notice some of my SERP are back up, but they are old data and many pages are not even exist (404). Yahoo has different data centers and using back up?

Yeh, same sort of thing here. Although Im not ranked on Yahoo anyway, I have been counting my backlinks and pages indexed. Both have taken a tumble in the last few days. And some of the pages that are now showing as indexed are old pages too. What gives?

Google and MSN love my site, and over the years Yahoo treated my site pretty good, but as of late Yahoo has been showing me no love. It has been a long time since Yahoo was a serious source of traffic. Search phrases I show up at #1 for Google and MSN and have for years, Yahoo buries me pages back. I have also noticed that Yahoo has never fixed their inablility to deal with 301 redirects correctly. I have 301 redirects that have been in place for years and Yahoo is still pointing to the old URL.

People complain about Google, and the spam in Google, but while Yahoo doesn't have as much spam, it still has serious underlying technical issues that need to be resolved.

The problem started for me on Friday, July 21st. I lost about half my backlinks, down from 15,000 to about 7,400 and my rankings have suffered as well. Yahoo has a habit of using really old backlink data, but this would take it back to before January 2006, in my case.

Yes, Yahoo drop my rankings in all my sites, and i really don't know what i did wrong. The weird thing here is that the sites that are higher then me in serps are junk.

Common Yahoo give me my rankings back.

this is a zero sum game.. similar to trading options.

for every loser there is a winner.. for every winner there is a loser.

Now.. I gotta check the SERP for my keywords....

Same happened to me recently. I had about 30.000 bl's and now Yahoo is counting just one third of those. Don't know what's going on.... Most of them were not even from directories
