Who do you think are real marketing gurus online?

As a newbie to internet marketing and other related fields, the great volume of information online from various gurus can be overwhelming. Most of the time this is because I can't really tell which individuals are real gurus and which ones are wannabees. I feel though that it's important for all newbies to find out who these people are if we are to have any hope of learning the right ropes.

So far, I follow and read materials by people like Yaro Starak, Josh Spaulding, Caroline Middlebrook and Darren Rowse. I'd like to know if you guys know of any other gurus a newbie like me can genuinely learn from.

I know a lot of guys think he is full of B.S. and hot air, but I really think that Frank Kern is tip-top. His stuff is not cheap. Mass Control was like $1,997. It sold out in like 24 hours or something like that.

Everything I have ever seen with Frank has been worthwhile.

I first heard about him from other 'gurus' at an Internet Marketing seminar conference in San Diego. Everybody was talking about him and there really was a buzz about this guy, so I started trying to find out more about his stuff.

Another guy I would recommend, especially for newbies, is Jim Cockrum. His methods are very simple and easy to implement. He's a cool guy too.

    Kind regards,

    Neil

I think it is interesting that you follow certain people. Personally I used this forum mixed with v7n to learn about the basics of internet marketing. Also then number one thing you can do is read google's webmaster guidelines then it will be easy to tell people they are full of s$&% and tell them exactly where google says to not do a certain technique. I do enjoy following a couple of blogs which had some really excellent marketing strategies that surpassed the lists on the forums one of the blogs I found useful was http://courtneytuttle.com/2007/04/09/102-ways-to-make-your-blog-or-site-a-back-link-superstar/ not a bad blog to follow and the link points to a post I used to gain ideas on how to gain backlinks the right way. Anyway if your a marketing newbie rather than rely on a couple people to tell you the right way to market why not use the techniques of thousands of webmasters who are more than willing to offer you advice on this forum.

I agree with kbeus21, if you have thousands of dollars to spend then spend it at my store, please. If not then stick to the basics because the simple things in life are free. Content rules the internet, not hype. If you can produce a very hot product then you can make millions quickly. If not then you are just like me, and you CAN get page 1 rankings on Google, just like me, by providing unique content in your niche.

And for those wondering, I am competing with very large sites in a competitive niche. Search---internet marketing techniques---and see for yourself. Kill them with content.

Gurus are a select band, they stick together promoting each others products and as soon as they develop and launch version 1m they are already underway developing version 2 without caring about offering support for v1. This is the problem that all gurus have. The real gurus in this business are underground, the ones that are earning money on a consistent and ongoing basis

Guys thanks for your inputs. And davejug1 you have a real good point there. I experienced this myself. I read one gurus material and used it. The following week, there was another version. I wish it were possible to learn from the real great underground gurus

I don't believe anybody is a guru, you hit a certain point in marketing where you know all of the tips and tricks, and it just becomes execution. Those referred to as guru's are the ones that are able to effectively get opt-in subscribers, convert products, make money with PPC, etc. They don't have special skill sets, just a special work ethic.

That's it, there isn't the big magic $$$$$$$ secret...well, just one you just mentioned: execution. Work, daily, not just an hour or two.

The most important thing you have to know about the "gurus", Villa, is that they make all their money by selling their products, not by using the techniques they sell. So, the stuff they sell is either outdated and recycled (you wouldn't publish a secret making you money, would ya?) or simply based on a "make money by selling others the dream to make money" strategy.

There are a lot of gurus out there that teach about internet marketing, both real gurus and fake gurus. Among the real gurus, I learn and follow mentors like Lee McIntyre, Terry Dean, Jonathan Leger, and Yaro Starak.

    Real gurus advertise.

But they don't share how they do it, and or who they hired to bring in so many daily hits.
