    Hello,

I've been a webdev Project Manager for nearly the past decade. I've seen two recessions during my time as a PM, and I must admit that I'm getting burned out and am considering a career switch to design and possibly development.

I know the basics of HTML and Photoshop from countless times of "rolling up the sleeves and pitching in" to help meet a deadline, and I'm finding that I'm more drawn to those careers than management.

I joined the forum because it seems like there are a lot of people here who could offer some informed opinions and help me make some decisions along the way.

I'm currently signed up for a PM certification class and am starting to get cold feet because I'm not sure if I want to stick with it or not. Then again, I said the same thing in 2003 and later started another PM job because I got frustrated with trying to live on a substandard wage. So, today, the dilemma is if I should stick with getting the PM certificate in case I need a backup, or to use as an additional credential in a competive jon market, or should I invest the money in a graphic design instead? (For programming, I'd rather go the self-guided route and pick up a book and just work through the lessons. I can't seem to do the same with design for some reason; I need more guidance with design, I suppose.)

Anyhow, that's it. Over and out, nice to meet everyone!

Well, (and I'm a noob too) if you're having cold feet before the course has even started I think you have your answer right there. 'Be true to yourself' (me Dad always says) and if you follow that advice clymbrchk I don't think you can go far wrong.
