I manually submitted my site to google - now what?

I submitted my wordpress.org blog early last week to google, and I'm waiting for it to be indexed. Before I have usually submitted my sites using mass submit sites and the like, but it seems a lot of people feel the best way is to do it individually. What do you think, and what should be my next course of action? I've heard when you submit to google, Yahoo and MSN automatically pick it up. Many thanks :)

you could have skipped this step at all - you get indexed fast once you get backlinks, so google bot comes to your site using different paths.

Now, as long as you are on an SEO forum, I guess you'd want to start doing the actual SEO :)

First make sure to do onpage optimization - brush up all the page elements in terms of keyword density, then start getting backlinks with your keywords as anchor text.

No need to wait for something magical to happen upon indexing - just get going with SEO 8)

Google do not require submission nor does it penalize sites for 'over-submission'. You are free to submit as often as you wish. However, given the nature of their inclusion process,Google says your time is better spent improving the content and links of your site.

Never bother with the Google submit.

To get your site indexed fast -

    Install Google Webmaster Tools
Submit an XML sitemap to Google
Comment on a few high ranking blogs, link to your site.

Using this process I normally get indexed in 48 hours.

Thanks :) I actually use All In One SEO pack for each entry, so hopefully that helps.

I stopped using Google Webmaster tools about 3 years ago. It is a waste of time. I only create an XML SItemap after I have had my site running for about 2-3 weeks. The problem is, you can get sandboxed if you are not careful. Especially with a static html site.

Create an RSS Feed for your site using one of the free PHP tools out there or if you have a blog, submit your site to DIgg, StumbleUpon, and Mixx and you will be indexed and rolling in 48 hours or less. Once you have done this, then create your sitemap.

I have over 40 sites all in hte top 3 positions for thier keywords. It is mostly about content and not as much about backlinks as people want you to believe. I stopped pushing for backlinks a long time ago and now I concentrate on content and RSS.

I haven't added Google's stupid tracking code to a site in a long, long time.

Patience is the key for indexing with the SEs. They put a value on longevity. Unless it's a non competitive keyword, don't look to rank high naturally right away.

Just be patient and wait. Your site will get indexed by Google eventually. Proceed to linkbuilding now.

search engine submission is useless and a waste of time instead of doing this its better to use your time building your quality and related backlinks by doing this it easier for your websites to be crawled and index.

Erica hit the nail on the head; the time you spend doing and concerning yourself over SE submissions is better spent on other aspects of marketing.
