We all know the economic situation is bad, but this is different. And its hurting really bad.

Since April 1st my CTR has plummeted by 60%. Imagine going from a solid 2500 clicks per day to just 1400. CPC has remained the same, so that's a harsh 60% drop in my adsense revenues over the last two months.

This is happening across all my sites so it cannot be niche related.

Its been happening to other people ..see here:
    http://www.webmasterworld.com/google_adsense/3872608.htm

So my first course of action is to disable this "Interest-based Advertising". That is the only factor that has changed.

What is also funny is that third party click tracking is reporting normal CTR levels for me. Is it that Google has a problem tracking our clicks? Why aren't they coming out and letting us know ?

    What are your thoughts ?

I didn't find any appreciable decrease in my adsense earnings although they fluctuate a lot on weekly basis...

How many have Interest based enabled ?

I disabled it 6 hours ago and I'm immediately seeing more relevant ads. CTR is still the same though.

Economic Crisis do not affect the CTR, only CPC will be affected.
The CTR drop can be many reason such as same ads display for long time, or content not beng update for long time etc

My largest earning site gets about 50 new posts and 300 non spam comments per day. The quality of the content has been consistent. It's just that CTR is significantly lower.

I don't believe that on April 1st my visitors decided to click my ads 60% less. It's too drastic of a change to be normal. It's like a two month long april fools joke :( :(
