If you do SEO well, you can make excellent money. I am looking for an SEO guy now to do some local stuff. I started to do all my own SEO, but I found out you cannot do that well and get clients and grow in other marketing channels.
I would say try it, have a go at a few sites for a hobby maybe. There are Loads of SEO experts out there so you will only be successful if you are good. If you try it and you can do it, then go for it as a career.
you feel boring sometimes in SEO untill you don't keep update yourself.and you are underestimating SEO then it can be a bad choice for you but it needs very well reading online and practical implementation as well...by the way some of you have point out that SEO is simple then ohh my friend...it is not for me ? because it need a hard research , great dedication , patience, time to invest and hard word .SEO in not about on page and off page ,it is all about TOP 10 SERP !! ...and for this you have to put your best effort ...well about career in india ...now it is equally well manage career as development n all other IT sectors.many of companies are hiring SEO engineers on a good salary package .
Don't go with SEO. You can not get good pay as compaare with developers. Even though You have enough projects in hand you can not get good pay as compare with idiot programmers will get good pay when they are on work also...........................................
