I know everyone wants to conquer Google but what about Yahoo, MSN? If I am on the first page of these two search engines wll I get traffic at all or it doesn't come close to Google? Thanks
You will recieve traffic from other search engines than google. It depends on where you are located and what area/country you are targeting. However Google is by far the most used. As an example there are 400 million internet users in Europe and of these 93.89% use Google...
Well depending on the source (Comscore vs Hitwise vs other), Google processes between 60 and 70% of the web's searches.... I think Yahoo! processes between 20 and 25%... MSN is probably in the neighborhood of 3-5%... Ask is almost nothing... I get traffic from all, but focus primarily on ranking at Google since they drive 3+ times more traffic than the 2nd place engine.
Theres Google and the rest ... the rest is a waste of time in my book the big G brings 70% of the SE traffic posible ...
Even if you ranked #1 in all of the other search engines, the amount of traffic you get would not beat google. To give you an idea, google supplies 48.32% of my forums total traffic. Yahoo, the next biggest search engine only supplies 2.94%. MSN supplies something .5% of my total traffic. The only way your going to get around google is to buy some TV advertising, or buying ads in big news papers - like the new york times.
