I sponsored many wordpress themes on here and I hope to continue sponsoring more.

However, a few days ago I recieved an email from a DP'er who I had sponsored several themes:

"I'm writing to you because you are sponsoring, or you sponsored in the past, a WordPress theme (template). If you are not interested in sponsoring another theme (or if by my mistake you never did), please disregard this message.... etc... etc..."

I recieved it no less than five times and noticed that he was spamming every domain that I had sponsored on his themes so I contacted him and asked him to stop. He refused and said that I should add a spam filter to stop me receiving his emails. He went on to further say that no one else complained. Well if they sponsored one site they would possibly not complain but if they have sponsored over 10 different sites then it becomes very irritating and upsetting as well.

Despite my protest he continues to spam my domains and from reading the rest of his email it seems to me this will not be a one off situation and he will continue to ram his spam down my throat along with the other sponsors.

Unfortunately for him, whatever chance he had of me sponsoring future themes from him, he just completely blew. I hope other designers and sellers here don't stoop to such new lows.

You are very generous. I think he/she is plain stupid or just high. I receive the same sort of emails today (and a few months ago) and it take me no more than 5 seconds to put every one of those in spam box. Same message here, don't send me your new theme release unless I ask for it. I'll just remember your username and ignore every thread you create.

I have had these same PM - its really annoying!!!

    Regards,

    Josh

P.S. @xtremenitro - sponsering themes is only useless if (and only if) the theme is used on a gambling, porn, warez etc.. site. You just have to make sure the theme would not look good for any of those niches.

right on. Good point, but I bought a link on a travel related theme and it looks like a travel related theme. It has a picture of Italy on it as the header and I been going through backlinks and looking at the sites that use the theme and I have a few marijuana sites linking to me now. Why they would use a travel theme I have no idea.

One thing I gorgot to mention OP is that when I do this or send my email to anybody here at DP I use an alternate email so I don't get spam.
I have created an email address just for sending to people I deal with here and I get about 200 spam emails a day.
So set up an extra email that you would only use to register at BS sites and give to members here cause you will get spammed. Everyone here is about making money so there going to add you to there BS mail and sell your emails in list to others.

    Good luck.

Thanks for your advice but it is not being directed to my main email account. What he is doing is actually visiting my sites and scraping the admin or contact email accounts from my sites. In some instances he even used contact forms on my sites.

Now that he has started to use the contact form on my sites to spam me, ignoring my requests for him to stop such activity, I am very interested to find out who he is. Anyone know who Javier García is here on DP?

Another thing you can do to stop those emails/messages is head over to SpamCop and report the unsolicited emails and header info to them. That will blacklist the sending server.

He's quite stupid to refuse, because he can be sure you won't buy anything from him now.

and here is just one of the 22 I received yesterday alone:

    Hello,

I'm writing to you because you are sponsoring, or you sponsored in the past, a WordPress theme (template). If you are not interested in sponsoring another theme (or if by my mistake you never did), please disregard this message.

In a nutshell, are you interested in sponsoring (placing a link into)...

    * An advanced WordPress theme running in more than 220.000 pages?.
    * Another advanced Wordpress theme I'm about to launch?.
    * A PHP script running in more than 880.000 pages?.
    * Another PHP script running in more than 400.000 pages?.

I developed a very advanced WordPress theme with a lot of features and customization options, and it has been very successful. I'm not talking about some basic template with a simple design (CSS) modification. This kind of themes (95% of what you can find in the usual sites) are running in a couple hundred pages. I'm talking about one of the most complete themes ever coded, which took months of development, and an Internet search shows the theme is running in more than 220.000 pages (the theme is easily translatable to any language so most likely there are a lot more installations I can't trace).

I'm interested in having this theme sponsored with one (at most two if
short) text links from a single sponsor. Also, I'm about to launch another theme with the same set of features and customization options, but a different design. By placing your link on the thousands of sites that are using/will use these themes, you'll increase your site's link popularity and improve your search engine rankings.

If you are interested in sponsoring an already published theme and/or a new one, please let me know and I'll send you the details. If you are interested in the already existing theme I suggest you hurry, as a new WordPress version is about to launch and most people update their themes then.

You might also be interested in sponsoring one of the two PHP scripts I developed, which have been also incredibly successful: one of them is running in over 880.000 pages, and the other one in more than 400.000.

Again, please let me know if you are interested (and in which one(s) of the options) and I'll send you further information.

    Best regards
    Javier Garcia

I got that one too. Being curious I asked for more info and he want's $1000 for first 3 months then $300 a month afterwards to place your link on his sites.

Anybody on here buying a theme link for $15-$80 is not going to start paying $300 a month for a link on these pages.

    Or maybe I am wrong?
