Evening folks. I'm trying to read up a bit about the topic of SEO so I do some of my own optimisation for my own projects. My problem isn't finding guides or articles which help explain how SEO works, it's finding trusted sources where SEO was proven to work.

Do any of you folks have good examples, guides or primers I could read?

I would recommend the same. But its just a guideline not a HOW TO DO thing. Search on Google and you shall find plenty.

I beg to differ. Yes it is a profession if it's your livelyhood. But if you are a small or even medium sized business owner/employee, there is a lot you can do yourself to achieve good SERP's for niche keywords. Many companies invest very little or employ bad SEO companies, so it can be quite easy to achive some resonable results yourself.

Just follow best practice from google, don't expect it all to come at once and don't get sucked in by getting sidetracked chasing PR, it's the results that count!
