Around 2-3 hours during the weekdays. I spend more time on weekends i.e 8 hours. I'd like to increase my hours but I've got other commitments during the day aka day job.
Ok. I'm scared now. Almost everyone that posted on here spends more than 5 hours promoting their site. My question is, doing what? How do you guys manage to have so much time on your hands? And what is your marketing regime?
I promote my sites until my eyes bleed!!!! Typically 9 hours straight during the day for 2 sites, and then varied time during the night whilst watching television/doing nothing etc. These sites don't sell online (not ecommerce), but are the storefronts for online customers which generate calls for our service engineers across the country everyday. If these sites aren't actively maintained, checked and promoted, means no work. My normal day to day stuff usually includes link building, content updates, additional content pages to both sites, researching by checking competitors and forums for new info etc, and managing ppc accounts (google, msn, yahoo, 1 for each site). And when i'm not actively promoting my two sites on my day off (only a sunday), i am building and designing my new online store which i am hoping to launch within the next month or so. This is on top of my other duties at work, including offline advertising, meetings, analysing telephone stats and general day to day running duties. All in all, i'm usually a busy (but very tired) person!
Between 4-5 hours a day. The bulk of my time goes to article writing. It's quite draining to write 5 straight hours so I take little breaks as needed.
Dang I guess I really need to step it up if I plan to become a full time webmaster that is alot of time.
Reading blogs and commenting on them, article writing, working on social networking sites myspace twitter and facebook there are alot of ways to improve the reach you have online.
I would say around 2 hours a day for me. I can only do it during breaks at work and in the evening. In the weekend I usually spend more time, 4 hours a day in the weekend I would say.
It all depends on your niche and the number of sites you promote. I can promote one website with 3 hours per day, but I can also promote 10 websites for 8 hours a day
