    Hi There,

My website is currently being hosted by hostgator, which is based in the USA, and I am wanting to change to a hosting company that is based in the UK.

Has anyone done this and tell me how you would go about doing it?

you can set the DNS of the domain to that of the other hosting company (not sure if that will work with your new hosting company), or transfer the domain to the new web host. It's not hard, but it will take some time for your domain to propagate across the internet when you make changes like that.

The reason is because I am not ranking in the USA google rankings and im on page 4 in the US google rankings. I asked the question on here why that might be, and I got a few responses saying its where your server is located.

I changed my location target to the UK in googles webmaster but as such, still not featuring

    No its a .com.

Just new to setting up and have learned a lot so made the mistake of my target market being in the UK with a US hosting and a .com domain.

If you want to increase your website ranking in UK then you should move your website on UK's server. It's very simple to do, contact web host who provides UK based server and they will migrate your data to their UK based server. OR let me know your requirements so that I can help you further with this.

Its easy, you just do some backup all of your files at HG then transfer it to the host at UK such as ukhost4u.com
