How to tell if Google banned a site?

How can you find out if a site is banned from Google?

It looks ok in my webmaster tools. When I check back links on sites I have several according to Yahoo, etc. Yet nothing on Google.

When I try, link:www.s1-search.com I get nothing on google.

There was a time when I have lots of backlinks from DP?

    Thanks
    t

That isn't how you check, type in site:yoursite.com and if any results come up, you are not banned. To see the links Google currently recognizes as backlinks set up a webmaster tools account.

with the site:mydomain.com command, I have many pages that are indexed by Google.

But all the sites I have link to others and I have few if any backlinks?

If you get banned from google there should be pretty good reason for it, there are different stipulations tho, the most notable being the great firewall of china! you can check www.greatfirewallofchina.org to see if your site is viewable in different countries.

"Banned" means excluded from the google index altogether. If the site appears in search results, there's no ban. Maximum what it can imply is that you have insufficient links, or have experienced a penalty of some kind.
